No, I know it's only for a few episodes, but the simple fact is I don't even CARE about the show anymore. I lost all the shits I could give about it and have no desire to suffer through that level of crap just to see the resolution.

Doesn't help that none of the new characters are remotely likable or interesting in any way, instead just stupid shounen harem cliches that seem ripped right from Rosario+Vampire.

Okay, so Hataraku Maou-Sama! has been pretty good so far. I was afraid that it was going to be a harem, but it looks like they are thoroughly averting that. The comedy is good, the slapstick is fun, and the action, when it happens, is well animated and is fun to watch.

Literally every single Tenchi series is a harem comedy, it is the fundamental basis of Tenchi Muyo.

Yeah, about that, to someone who simply sees the opener of the anime and doesn't know any better, that's not as common knowledge to them as it is to you.
My point? The opener vrs the content to a complete Tenchi Newbie was a WTF moment.

I'm reminded of Zero Punctuation saying talking about how half of anime seems to be comprised of shows about men quite pointedly not having sex with several eager women.

I remember Tenchi Muyo, but not much of the others. But for harem animes, I definitely remember reading Love Hina. Always seemed like it was just Tenchi with the Sci Fi bits replaced with slapstick and more fanservice.

That's almost completely true, except that I don't think Magical Girl Pretty Sammy was a harem comedy.  It was more of a magical girl show parody that went serious halfway through.  That's pretty much the only exception that I know about, though; I didn't watch most anything that was released after the 1990s for that series.

Oh, I know one that I wish was the opening - Magical Girl Squad Arusu/Tweeny Witches.  The opening was interesting, ideal for catching one's attention, and the trailer was quite good; the somewhat non-conventional art style in particular really drew me in.  The show itself was...mmmm, it wasn't terrible in my opinion, but it wasn't particularly stand-out, either.  Honestly, I don't even remember a lot of it, except that the main protagonist started as rather a brat.

Besides the question was whether while watching something did they ever think to themselves "Dang I'd rather be watching the intro".

If they watched a harem anime but the intro showed an anime with intrigue and depth. Regardless as to whether or not they knew what they were getting into, they might want the second.

Quite a few of them now are not about the Harem, yet contain a harem.

Heck Tenchi Muyo.. the joke is.. that the guy is completely unimportant and superfluous to the plot. That is sort of the point, that he is given undue importance.

I hear that a whole lot from people who have just started watching Watamote. I don't necessarily agree, but I can see the point.

Considering that the intro is supposed to be as overwrought and hyperbolic compared to the actual show as possible, they probably picked the wrong type of show to watch entirely.

* Add teen-age medical specialist to Mahouka guys skills. Someone got badly hurt, he was on the scene first (out of literally 1000's of spectators), instantly diagnosed the problem, then proceeded to instruct the paramedics on proper treatment.

I'm just waiting for him to solve a murder-mystery at this point.

This is pretty much it, yeah. Again, understanding != agreement.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa.

What do you mean he waited for trained paramedics to do stuff for him?

They've got that covered: We don't get to see the paramedics faces, just their backs as Tatsuya looks all stern with his arm pointing as he lectures them on how to do their job.

... and now he's started the detective work. I spoke too soon before. Only a genius like Tatsuya can solve this crime!
