Yeah, so this stuff is deeply seated in the series and I doubt any of this wasn't in the novel and mangas.

I've only read like three chapters, but it seems like there might be some slight differences, or else they haven't come out yet. Maybe he was trying at first, or had to bluff it to get the concept across, before scrapping it. Or maybe the/this manga's a different interpretation by a different person who wanted to cash in or explore the concept or whatever without being quite that wanky. _{If so I'll probably have to stop reading and go watch the anime. :<}
Notably, currently everyone's fawning over his awesome sister, which would be more of a saving grace if she wasn't also obviously lusting after him. She even got a rather dull, more talked about than shown duel at the beginning where she utterly crushed her opponent with "A-Rank magic" or similar.

The big brother, on the other hand, is actually lauded for being a genius on paper, but it's mentioned that his practical application is terribad. I don't see how he could avoid ignoring that entirely to pull a bunch of bullshit later, but as they're telling it at the moment, it's puzzles in general, not just Jenga, and actually casting the stuff requires doing puzzles, not just knowing puzzle theory.

Finally, there's insinuations that he's some kind of experiment of his father's or something. In practice that'll probably just work out to a unique bullshit power set or something, but it's something. Of course, he hasn't even used it yet, so if we're just going by what I've seen so far that's not terribly relevant.

You can more then dislike Princess Mononoke.

I mean I liked it... but there are plenty of elements I can outright see people just outright hating. Such as the long stretches of nothing, or the understated acting.

Frankly the English dubs on Ghibli films are the best you'll find anywhere, because BBT is a goddamn hunter priest. And its not breakneck action, but if thats why you're watching then the movie's not for you, and you're also missing the point of the film, which is that hate and violence is wrong. It's like Gundam Wing except the character advocate actually stands by his beliefs, though the strength of the demon arm does make him kill one or two men.

Sometimes I wish there was more love in this thread.

Don't get me wrong. What I am saying are not flaws so much as things people can see as flaws.

For example... I LOVE the classic anime understated acting where characters would say things instead of constant over-emoting ALL the time.

The long stretches of nothing is because the series is an adventure, you are supposed to look at the vast landscapes and creatures and be in awe.

But I can see someone disliking the very things I like about it.

Just started watching Trigun. My first reaction was "what's the big deal", but I'm only 3 episodes in so take that with a grain of salt. I've seen recommendations for this show many times, but never any specifics about it... maybe because spoilers or something iunno.

Also CHRIST this thread is long, why have I never posted here?
