Yeah, Soul Eater is sort of meh, but the manga is definitely readable. It also has some good character songs. If you didn't like Death the Kid, just wait until Excalibur.

I am honestly surprised to hear this given how "GREATEST ANIME EVER!" it was when it first came out.

Then again... Naruto was the same thing (then again it had potential... that it squandered), then again Bleach was the same thing...

Hmmm... It is like every once in a while there is going to be a very popular and highly regarded shonen action show that people will look back at later and just go "meh"

"Once in a while?"

Neonivek, I don't think you're being negative enough. Or maybe it's just that the people who cry "OSSUM POSSUM" are a different group from the ones who sigh "meh".  :P

To be honest, I don't really get most of the criticisms against Naruto and Bleach.
Except the filler complaints. Those I get.

I started watching Soul Eater and all I can say is ehh. I can see how others might enjoy it but almost everything about it grates me. Especially this fucker and the way he holds his guns. I feel betrayed by that really good Soul Eater AMV.

Legend of Korra, on the other hand, is actually pretty good.

Don't stop watching Soul Eater until you make it though the first Excalibur episode.

Don't tell anyone that you can see their shadows. If they hear you telling anyone, if you let them know that you know of them, they will get you.

If the hero is using it then it is considered strategy (The law of anime), if the villain is using it then it is quite likely that they are "legally cheating"... at least until the hero uses it.

Naruto is pretty stupid and has some really long battles though not much DBZ levels. Though last arc where pretty much everyone threw away their character buildup was just mind blowing.

Fucking Bleach, that show IS filler, should have died 3 seasons ago and kept going with itI i had no damn clue what was going on anymore, Soul Eater was way shorter and finished early yet this kept fucking going?

God if they screw up One Piece im going to Japan and slay some peoples.

Oh no their use is quite clearly legal, nobody even batted an eye at them and they only show up in the opening of the episode and get curbstomped by Reiji. But still.

And huh. I just suddenly realized how incredibly expensive it must be to use them. Specially factoring in repair costs.

My understanding is that Bleach was a reasonably OK manga that came to a conclusion, only the author then decided to continue it forever even though he had absolutely no further ideas for where to go.

make it through

Also I enjoyed Death Eater. I came into it as "This is going to be silly and there is going to be action" and I was not let down.

...very popular and highly regarded (shonen action show) that people will look back at later and just go "meh..."

Oh you mean like DBZ, Avatar, Doom, Quake, The Avengers Films, The British TV Quiz Show Eggheads, Carling, The Ability to Swordfight, Current Fashion...

It's not unusual for people to like something when it comes out and for a retrospective to debunk it. :P

DBZ is interesting in that it started on top, then went down again, and somehow... it is now considered one of the staple shonen action shows.

As in it somehow climbed back out again. Probably because people realized that in spite all its flaws it beats out most of what gets on the air.

Like you eat a piece of pie and you aren't really wowed and you are like "this pie is quite bland" but then there is a pie baking contest and you realize that the pie you thought was bland is actually flavorful because all the other pies are worse.

I think DBZ is old enough to have had basically all of it's complaints levied against it. Thus, if you put up with the lack of character development, drawn - out chatting fight scenes, power inflation, BS dragon rules, etc., it can offer you occasional humor and people blowing each other up in enjoyable ways, along with a sense of "justice". :)
