I guess I'm finished with 999 now. Following Toon's instruction, I got two endings at once? I'm not sure how that worked, but it filled out the roster of endings.
Even though the game leaves on a note of "Yeah we answered all da questions bro" there are in fact a few questions left unanswered:
WHO is the mysterious killer? Really, that trips me out that there's just someone hiding in the ship to fucking merc everybody on a moment's notice for no reason.
What's with that submarine really?
Why is there no puzzle room for the second Number 9 door?
Why's Lotus part of the Nonary Game? Every other character was directly related to the original experiments, and the best ending completely flushes out everyone's backstory except her's. The only thing we learn about her is that she's good with computers, and she was the mother of two children from the original experiments, but we learn that during a bad ending route. She has the loosest and least relevant connection to the original experiments, so I'm wondering why she was chosen by Zero. It's just curious.
Who the heck connects an air vent from a prison cell directly to an incineration chamber AND the only exit off the ship? Who designed that shit.
What's with that golden gun nonsense? "Oh yeah I'm gonna hide a gun on the ship in one of the puzzles, so that I can sneak it and then use it myself. He he he I'm so smart" -Santa. I mean, everything that was placed in the ship up to that point was there to solve a puzzle or progress through the ship, but that's just there to give any of the two psychopaths leverage in hostage situations. And I'm disappointed it was a six-shooter and not a Nine-shooter, way to completely miss an opportunity to make something arbitrarily 9-themed.
So what the heck was ALLICE doing there again?
I mean it was really cool and all, but why did I have to hold my DS upside down for the last puzzle? and seriously, sudoku? It's the most nine-themed puzzle ever, but seriously.
Do the characters ever poop out the bombs in their stomachs?
Was Akane, in fact, actually Tidus?
Like, really, seriously, fucking sudoku?
EDIT: Now that I think about it, the 9 door with the Library puzzle room is really badly designed. I mean, from a practical realistic perspective where characters aren't railroaded, there'd be a very real possibility that the team going through there wouldn't have the Uranus keycard, and they'd be trapped in there. That'd be some serious horseshit, especially if what you needed was the SUN KEY instead. Plus, it's inconsistent in that every puzzle up to the point was self-contained, none required anything from outside of it's confines, but this one does, and that's really odd.
While it may not answer my questions, I may need to get Virtue's Last Reward.
