Why is there not more shows animated like this?

Not to interupt the 999 discussion, but I've been poking around Netflix and found Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne. Quite short, but it was certainly interesting. Also bloody and the first episode was really gross at one point, but the rest were relatively fine. Has anyone else seen it?

Yes. I liked it.
The way it portrays immortality in a bad light, as a negative thing, was interesting.
As I recall the picture convinced me it was some attempting-to-be-deep softcore porn thing. Any non-spoilery details on what it was actually about or made it good?

It's about two immortals who work as private investigators, and the events surrounding the Tree of Yggdrasil which occasionally emits spores that have a very small chance of contacting people. The spores change them in various ways, often for the worse. The story is told through a series of jumps in time periods that, uniquely for shows I've seen, show the other characters who are not immortal growing old and passing on.
It generally portrays the ability to not die as a curse instead of a blessing, and contains some frankly disturbing scenes regarding this. There is a lot of nudity, sex, and gore that reaches Elfen Lied levels but I still feel the base idea of the show makes it interesting enough to watch for people willing to deal with those caveats.

Ooh, the first RWBY episode is finally out!?  :D

Okay, the combat was fluid, dynamic, and very well-animated. Excellent marks on that and the color design. Most of the camerawork was also pretty good. The non-combat animation felt more than a little stiff at times, though. The VAs have certainly been working at it; pretty much all of the dialogue felt like it was delivered more comfortably than in the Black (or to a lesser extent Yellow) trailer. On the flip side, the actual lines were mediocre, with a lot of repeated words and phrases. It's probably a bit early to judge, but the plot also seems like its going to be fairly bog-standard, centered around monsters, stereotypical villains, and the fighting thereof. I'm not going to complain about them playing to their strengths, though, because the combat animation is bloody beautiful to watch.

I must say, all the waiting was worth ten minutes of RWBY.

The Combat seemed to be quite well done, and the humor was kinda good. I just look forward to learning more lore and stuff about the entire world of the show, and how things are going on in that world.

The style and animations greatly reminded me of Tales of Graces. Feels a bit like the designer had been playing a bunch of JRPGs and watching Madoka before getting an idea of a show they wanted to make.

Wow, I never saw such blatant fanservice like this before.

So the heroes were sitting at a table talking, three males two females, when the frame transitions to a panning shot of one of the women's large and exposed breasts where she does her entire line (essentially talking out of her boobs). I actually went "Her eyes are up there".

A few frames later and we see her face and not only is her cleavage suddenly shrunk but her clothes are no where close to that revealing.

I will admit I never seen a show just outright ignore continuity just for extra fan service before.

I think you should watch LotGH, Neonivek.  It's a good series for people who don't like anime.  And people who do like anime.  And people who are sortof on the fence about anime.

(the tip I've heard is to watch the first two movies instead of the first two episodes)

I think a part of me doesn't believe HSotD actually exists as a series, and that it's actually just a set of ridiculous gifs created by some guy on 4chan.

You mean ... that's not what happened? D:

I was keeping my tenuous grip on sanity by believing that was actually what happened!!!

So I don't know if you guys have heard of this or anything since it seems to have been announced in April, but apparently Del Toro is planning to do a short series on HBO based on Monster. Now I haven't read/watched it personally but a friend thinks pretty highly of the series so I'm inclined to believe that this could be something very promising.

The person supporting regenerating health, when asked why you can see when shot in the eye justified it as 'you put on an eyepatch'. When asked what happens when you are then shot in the other eye, he said that you put an eyepatch on that eye. When asked how you'd be able to see, he said that your first eye would have healed by then.
