Well it's a manga right now, not an anime (check the link), so probably 1 (or 2) person's work, but there is a link that says an anime adaptation has been announced, but no dates. So sorry guys if you were hanging out to see this in it's fully animated glory :/

Actually, there's no name for the company that's even supposed to be producing the anime ... so it's probably "vaporware".

Another relieving sign, is that the manga is 2 years old, and not one single review of it exists on myanimelist ... that would definitely label it as "fringe".

You just gotta be really specific about what you watch.
It's like any other medium, the majority of it is complete garbage that shouldn't exist. Japan just seems to have a bigger market audience for weird and creepy stuff on the surface than other countries right now. Not to say other countries don't have it, but it tends to be more hidden and less blatant.

I watched all of Gurren Laggan in two days. Code Geass R1? 3 days. I'm blowing through these shows to quickly.

I have no problems with nudity or sexual content. But it really gets annoying when there is too much of it. Or if its done in a way that is overly distracting from the story/plot.

For example, I would have liked High School of the Dead a lot more if it didn't spend half of each episode up some chicks skirt/nestled between a pair of oversized boobs.

I enjoyed HSotD.
The only part that bothered me was after that huge ridiculous fight, when the pink-haired girl tackle-hugged her mother with entirely too much gainaxing. Kind of ruined the moment.
Other than that I was fine with everything.

Except for the 100's of shows which have neither excessive fan service, nor crazy sick plots or violence. there are a LOT of shows which have neither sex nor gory violence, e.g:

Bakuman
Sakimachi no Apollon
Aria: The Animation
Haibane Renmei
Kino's Journey

etc. the mistake is to think anime is a "genre". Anime isn't a genre, it's a medium, encompassing all genres. It's like attacking photography or painting based on the works some people produce.

Though I think the funniest thing about those incest shows is it's always "It's okay, because he's actually my half-brother/cousin/etc!". If you're going to ruin any potential plot with some bullshit fetish thing AT LEAST COMMIT TO IT. >=[

But the whole point is to try and cater for the fetish while providing "plausible" deniability to the viewer (note that it only has to be plausible to the viewer, not to anyone else).
