I am starting to associate Visual Novels with bloody murder now.

Probably because that is the only thing I've seen happen in them

I always thought VNs are half porn half gore things. Exceptions prove the rule!

I don't really watch porn... ever.
You're missing out.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I was going to start higurashi (VN) after getting bored of shuffle (I'll finish it because is short as hell, but it's only mediocre), but after looking at the art quality I'm scared I'll lose interest due to it like it happened with tsukihime (It's quite good, but I cannot bring me to continue after chaos fight in ciel route due to what I said before). Should I give it a try or look at another thing?

And by the way, any VN as rockin' awesome as fate stay/night?
There's a PS2 patch version with much better artwork all round (still no voices unfortunately).  In terms of stuff I enjoyed more than FSN:

- Higurashi and Umineko
- Ace Attorney/ Ghost Trick
- 999
- Dangan Ronpa

The best part about this list is that they're all non-ero.

I'd add Corpse Party, but then I'd realize the murder count would become stupidly high.  Also Ib but it's really short.  :[

Well, I differentiate between visual novels and adventure games. I would definitely put Higurashi in VNs, but not the stuff Capcom makes - AceAttorney/Ghost Trick and others. That games are full fledged adventures with puzzles and things! Visual novels on the other hand have interaction only in form of answers to questions. I call VNs reading simulators :).
But it doesn't really matter, it just irks me that people are saying that adventure games are dead. But there are so many! Japan produces so much!

From Professional to doujin/fanmade ones. Most of which are sprinkled with drugs and eyegasmic substances! ~YAAY~

Just finished watching "Big O" from the late 90's early 2000's, i gotta say this is now one of my favorite action animes, loved the film-noir thing - retro private-eye / secret agent style done really well, hero definitely styled off Bruce Wayne with a dash of Bond, and has some quite batman-esque insane villains. Gets a lot more surreal though than the source material it's influenced by.

The premise was really interesting (from myanimelist):

Quote
Paradigm City is a place without a past. 40 years ago, something happened that wiped the memories of everyone in it. Unfortunately, the people of Paradigm City were very busy before then, making Megadueses (giant robots) and monsters. People who were born after the memory wipe are gaining/recovering memories of the past and using them to build newer threats. With the help of The Big O (a faithful giant robot), his butler Norman and the android Dorothy, Roger Smith keeps Paradigm City safe. As problems mount and more memories surface, Roger's past and Paradigm's future begin to become suspect...

It was nice, never in the 26 episodes did i feel bored or pushing myself to watch more, which is what matters most.

Just a heads-up: There's a big infodump about the Ranceverse on /tg/ right now. There's actually a lot of fascinating lore behind it. Here's the link, and I'll endeavor to replace it with a link to an archive of the thread later.

The disguise failed because he forgot to chose a season that properly complimented his complexion.

I mean please... Green is so not his color.

On the topic of that...there's this really obsolete site with stuff on Rance, Ogawa, and Arios.

Damn missing protagonists...

EDIT:
This is a really nice find.  I can't believe they made Ontology that long ago.
I will be saving all these images...

EDITX2:
Also to keep things relevant.  I finished my 2nd run of the True Route in Sengoku Rance a few days ago.  I'm a little exhausted of SR now after playing through the normal game...at least six times.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I only have to clear the Shimazu brothers, the Takeda guys, and beat Orochi pretty much.  100% is HARD

The series is, if I remember correctly, 23 years old. That makes it older than Sonic the Hedgehog. And me, for that matter.

I didn't know they remade songs other than My Glorious Days!  Apparently Rance is striking down Arios in that image too?  Aaaaaaah
(yes I saved all the images to read later...I'm on the last Inganock webnovel too)

Also as a hint I have a special surprise for everybody soon...it's why I haven't been saying much...uhuhuhu
