Read the manga a year ago.  It was entertaining.  The ending might piss you off although I can't judge the anime.

Also has ridiculous parallels to NGE.

Well good thing I like sour endings :x, I still need to see NGE, Its on my ever so growing list of things to watch

I like sour endings too!  But it takes skill to pull off a good sour ending.  It doesn't necessarily just mean "bad"...

Having not watched Bleach, I can only offer this judgment:
It seems like literally every other shounen series. It's quite popular. Therefore, it can be assumed that it appeals to its target demographic reasonably well, and can thus be considered 'competent'.

The only good ones I've seen that made me sad yet just happy is Elfen lied and Angle Beats! those ended in a such away that I've rewatched them quite a lot just because the story was that good.

Having not watched Bleach, I can only offer this judgment:

I dont particularly agree with lumping it together with other Shonen shows. Bleach is really shitty, in pretty much every way possible. Its strongest point, and Tite only strong point is that it does have some pretty decent, and differentiated [EDIT] characters. 

It is entirely overly popular. Much like how Twilight is entirely overly popular.

What I like about Bleach: I was totally into the saxophone battle music they had played once or twice earlier in the series. Then it was forgotten about forever.

Bleach is incredibly formulaic, really.

-Ichigo is fighting an enemy
-Ichigo cannot defeat this enemy, it is ABOVE HIS POWER LEVEL
-Ichigo TRAINS
-Ichigo learns new power/becomes stronger/etcetc
-Ichigo defeats the enemy!
-Ichigo finds a new enemy
-Ichigo cannot defeat this enemy, it is ABOVE HIS POWER LEVEL
-Ichigo TRAINS
and on and on and on until you get SUPERAIZEN WHO IS INSANELY SUPERIOR AT EVERYTHING blah blah blah

DBZ had a similar problem.

I loved it, and it remains one of my top..3 or so anime. It has a ton of blood, murder, action, and some psychological interesting stuff. It doesn't take an...interesting turn towards the end, though, so if you don't like the theme it takes on then you might be a little upset. All in all, though, I loved it. Go Yuno!
