It really depends on the game in this case. For some it is because you didn't see the incredibly small windowed impossible to see path required to obtain it meaning that are beating you over the head for not basically not being the one who made the game. The best of the games with tons of bad endings and a few good ones are games where obtaining the bad endings are the key to actually finding out how to beat the game.

The worst are probably games without a real good ending but that keep hinting at there being one.

Azure Bird seems to come out of nowhere, it's a nice song at least.

If I remember correctly the "Bird of Happyness" has typically been blue. MIND you I got that out of three movies so what do I know.

The painting doesn't come until the second last scene of the entire game.  It is never mentioned elsewhere except the OP (which isn't even in the game).

The Azure Bird first appears at the end of the game.  It's the name of the ending song for fuck's sake.
