Yeah, Katanagatari happens to have just one of *those* endings. Have to wonder whether the light novels are ever going to be translated, or whether there will be an anime for Maniwagatari and co.

And two more endings done in Kara no Shoujo.  The latest one even had a credits roll like it was trying to be the 'True End' or something.  Not happening, it was still really sad too...

Anyway Ending 2 was very short and just had Reiji breaking into the Mamiya residence really early, seeing a suicide Shinzo, and then finding a dying and dead Toko torso+head.  They find dead Shinji in the woods out back.  And then it ends.  Honestly feel more apt to be a bad end.

Ending 3 was much better and was the one that had the credits.  Basically Reiji does a lot of investigating, pieces everything together, and catches Shinji at the church.  Toko had been long dead at that point but otherwise the best ending so far...except after Katsuragi left Shinji food he walks out and drowns himself in the nearby lake.  The end.

No seriously.  Most of the mysteries are solved, Shinzo and Mio are put under arrest, BUT EVERYBODY GETS KILLED AND SHINJI STILL COMMITS SUICIDE

He has a really hard time not killing himself.  Shinzo kills him in one ending but I doubt he wouldn't have done so anyway.

That 'Kara no Shoujo' was so powerful.  It drove two men crazy.  I feel like I know how most of it went down now.

Miyuki and Masa were both murdered years ago and put in the underground area.  Shinji killed Miyuki by accident (although she was abusive and raped him too) and Shinzo ended up killing Masa to create 'Kara no Shoujo'.  Shinji fled the house after learning about that and the two never met much afterwards.

Mio was a surrogate mother for Shinji.  Fake Toko and Shinji were siblings.  She helped dispose of the bodies with the power of American vehicles.

And Shinji met real Toko at the church when he ran away.  So Shinji coincidentally ran into his recently murdered "new Mother's" daughter.  They were young but hrrm..

Real Toko's mother is Masa...but we still don't her father...

And I also got the gallery, plenty of missing CGs still.  But now I can see the music titles.  Unsurprisingly 'Pursuit' is one of my favorites.  However bearing the obvious 'Egg of Neanis' is remarkably good and eerie.  It's like...surreal "this is the end of it all".

Anyway, Ending 4 is my favorite now!  Basically the same as Ending 3 except even longer and better.  The only problem is everybody is still dead and Shinji is "at large".

Also real Toko's father is either Rokushiki (incest man) but the fact he can't conceive makes it a miracle...or is it??!

I realize the English patch for Kara no Shoujo only came out last year.  That's pretty shocking to me...

It's pretty good I think.  The production values are great, however the protagonist isn't voiced (suuuucks) and it can be a bit boring sometimes.  Oh and the MC can be a smug douche bag with how he talks sometimes.

New Berserk and Vinland Saga chapters over the last few days.  It's like I chose the perfect time to read those!

Anyway, in manga news I'm on volume 7 of Historie.  It's really good.  I don't think I'd ever care for Greeks and Macedonians and stuff unless it was made into a cool manga.  Eumenes is hilarious and Alexander (the Great) is so charismatic.

I have to compliment whoever the hell coded it.  It's only bugged out on me once and somehow manages to stay fluid and consistent most of the time.
(also hint hint there are still characters entirely missing that would be theoretically impossible for you to discover unless you're a miracle child)

Good job spoiling yourself though.  Although then again, I never remember stuff I see offhand-ly with no interest, the ones that do stick are always the ones that matter...

So I've been playing Katawa Shoujo pretty heavily for the past few days, way more than I thought I would, and I just finished getting the good ending for all the girls, and I'm ok with putting the game down at 97% completion.

I really enjoyed the writing in the whole thing, even if I do get angry at Hisao for being the naive highschool boy that he is. He's way more internally verbose than he has any right to btw. While there's H scenes, I would go as far as to say that while some are genuinely romantic, alot of others feel very rushed, out-of-place, and detract from the mood of the story.

While I enjoyed the path of each girl, I enjoyed some more than others. Emi and Lilly had the best paths, having what feels like an actual relationship, with getting close, there being emotional conflict, self-realization, and then Hisao finally having to grow a pair at the last second and pour his heart to get the girl. These scenario's teared me up at points because of how sincere it felt.

Hanako and Rin's, while having emotional conflict, felt the least like an actual relationship. Especially with Hanako's, the feelings came away as very forced and contrived, it's obvious that Hanako just can't have a romantic relationship with her timid and fragile personality. You actually do more good for her in Lilly's path just by being her friend. Rin likewise, but on Rin's path I just felt like clocking Hisao for being an callous ass at all sorts of inappropriate moments, which strained their relationship too far to make it believable when they hook up happily at the end.

For Shizune, while it felt like a relationship between them, it was very odd in their being almost no conflict whatsoever. I thought it interesting that you could cheat on her with her best friend, the only scenario that allows unfaithfulness actually, but if you just decide to be faithful then you're railed into getting the best path. That just makes it boring. That and the fact that Hisao is just dominated by Shizune's personality, it's obvious that she's the man of the relationship. That just feel's weird having your character tugged along so willingly, not unlike on a leash.

All in all I wish there were a bit more to some of the scenarios so I could see how their relationships grow when they finally graduate from Yamako, but for my first VN experience, I really really enjoyed this.

I've actually gone out of my way to get the bad ending for each girl besides Lilly, and that's only because I did Lilly last and I want to end the game on a good note, not a depressing one.

Even though I say that, I'll probably see if I can't get 100% completion in the future, but it'd just be a pain to have to use my plethora of saves done at each crossroads just to see what new text I get. It's a task that has a lopsided time and patience vs entertainment and reward value. I just don't think I'll enjoy myself having to go back and painstakingly wring the consequences of every conceivable choice out of Katawa's dried husk into my mouth, just for that missing 3%.

I feel your pain, I have 89% in Remember11 because the game only has 60 saves and going through is so annoying...but I have completed everything and saw most of the bad endings in the SA thread.

I wonder if I can be  BAD ENOUGH DUDE tonight.
