Sometimes the setting stretches my suspension of disbelief, and I'm not always quite following the logic of its characters at points, but it was relatively good I thought. Stay away if you don't like gore and frequent deaths. There are very few happy endings.

Katanagatari is excellent. I watched it while it was it was airing and the month-long wait between episodes was pretty rough, but completely worth it.

Also, ToonyMan's tempted me into watching Katanagatari, despite my SHAFT angst.

It's actually animated by White Fox, the studio that also animated Steins;Gate, probable contender for best anime of 2011.

Togame sometimes ropes MS into Bakemonogatari-style dialogue, but it's a lot less common, which is a relief.

Togame's "never give up speech" was embarrassing enough that I paused and went for a snack instead of trying to stomach it all in one sitting.
All the romantic dialogue was cringeworthy. I want to believe that hey, maybe it's just weird translations, but after watching Bakemonogatari, I think that this just might be the author's style. I watched Marimite and it was delicious, so it says something when I can't even deal with the romance in Katana/Bakemono-gatari.

So, I've always liked amime, but never really got into watching it a lot. But, I really want to now that I've got some more free time. Can anyone recommend any good websites to watch it on, since I don't think anyone would want to look through this 7 hundred something page thread. Any help would be great, thanks! ^_^

I watched episode 8 of Katanagatari earlier.

It's funny.  While Togame got a hair cut and Shichika is becoming less of a 'sword' I still find myself infinitely more interested in the fate of the Maniwa Corps.

And of course near the end Princess Hitei tells her servant (who I don't trust one bit) to assassinate Houhou.  :[

Just to emphasis my point.  The last we see of the Maniwa that episode are the three sitting there learning that YET ANOTHER of their team was killed by completely OP forces.


It's lonely being a ninja.
