I wouldn't be surprised...but I'd say that she's quite a good addition even if she indeed got "slipped in"...and yes...that was beautiful. Almost poetic.

Not saying I don't like her, though I didn't at first. At first she seemed very Mary Sue-ish and overshadowed Guts, but as it went on I warmed to her and now rather like the character. So I would agree she is a good addition to the series.

I've heard others argue otherwise and I won't fight with them on the fact, since I could see why her inclusion to the story shook the formula around a rather large amount and some people don't like that.

I need to find a really good anime too. Prince of Tennis is 10 episodes to being finished before I have to check the order the OVAs take place in.

I've been watching one episode of Katanagatari a day.  It's remarkably good.  Exactly what Bakamonogatari should have been.  Maybe Shaft just needed hour long episodes or something lol right.

Today was episode 3.  Episode 2 is still probably my favorite but that preview for episode 4 man...

Also the Maniwa ninjas are great, all of them.

I can see how people would dislike Schierke, but to me she was a rather interesting change. For one thing, I don't think there would have even been a remote possibility of a good end if Guts ended up with the

and nothing to control it or himself beyond his own will. Personally, though, I think that the dynamic they have during fights makes them a hell of a lot more interesting; I almost hate to say it, but if you've seen one horrific monstrosity cut up into little bits in a blind rage...

A good point. A lot of the people crying betrayal or whatever about the changes in the manga seem to forget that it would have stagnated if nothing ever progressed beyond "Guts kills shit, gets angry, big demon gets sliced into mush".
It was both a step towards a greater plot scope and new people for Guts to interact with, to increase the character development all round.

which is funny because "Guts goes around killing things" is in it of itself a devolution of the previous dynamic of "PEOPLE ACTUALLY DO STUFF!"
