26 episodes or so is a good length.

My issue with long series is less filler and more the fear that the author is making it up as they go along and they will drag it out indefinitely.

I FINALLY got around to finishing the last 4 eps of Spice and Wolf. The arrogant, pretentious verbosity of the dialogue makes me physically ill, I can't believe somebody actually wrote page after page of this shit. Other than that though, it's a fun watch when the show EVENTUALLY decides to pick up the pace and get into economics and merchant schemes, the thing it does best.

Oddly enough no matter how short a series is it can still feel like that.

I laugh whenever someone looks at Full moon and goes "52 episodes? it must have a lot of filler" (it has filler) and then goes "I'd rather watch a 18 episode anime, no filler".

Yeah there is no anime too short for filler.

Now if you will excuse me I will be crying in a corner

I highly suggest Legend of the Galactic Heroes. One hundred and ten episodes and not a single piece of filler.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

I can agree with this, and usually I prefer 26 or so length, else it can feel a bit rushed in my opinion, but not always

Some shows are a lot better during their filler episodes, though. Slayers comes to mind.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

My favorite comedy episode was in Rozen maiden and it was a filler episode and was hillarious. Especially because of how seriously all the characters were and how little slapstick was involved (I don't find slapstick funny... possibly because I grown up with TONS of it to the extent that it no longer seems like it is trying to be funny)

---

On a side note I am being driven insane. Everyone has watched crazy insane animes and saw weird things. so much so that their "weirdest anime moment" is probably something truely bizaar

Yet... The weirdest moment for me was a Bike Race anime (it was on TV... so this time it wasn't me finding a randomly bad anime) where Dracula was in it.

Now Dracula was about to kill everyone. So they challenge him to a bike race.

Then they proceed to put him in a Bike Riding outfit and he has no powers.

It was soo weird... It was like if Goku was suddenly challenged to Hopscotch and they put him into a bear costume that you couldn't see him in that took away his powers.

I so agree.  I think it requires a bit of thought to be funny.  So series that take the extra step in effort (and this always seems to be the serious ones) always gets the laughs out of me.  Even if the main point isn't to be funny they certainly have a sense of humor I can agree with.

I should give a recent example in Chaos;Head since I'm on chapter 6 of that now (it's truly a bizarre semi-serious VN):

Argh I have so much to say, OKAY MIGHT AS WELL DO IT ANYWAY

The Fukumoto mangas

I finished Buraiden Gai, it's still missing the magic Kaiji had but I just need to read all of Fukumoto's works.  I'm on volume 6 of Zero now I think.  Zero is good but again it's not 'the best' Fukumoto has shown he can do.  So I end up being the most excited when new Kaiji chapters are scanlated.  Akagi is good too.  Kurosawa is okay but it's much more...coming of age.

I do like Zero the character himself too.  Some of the other characters are good too.  I suppose I still have Ten and stuff to read but I'm not sure I want to go through another Mahjong adventure.
Spoiler: Zero images (click to show/hide)
(yes I'll go back to Berserk after my Fukumoto fix)

As for VNs, mainly just Chaos;Head and Alicesoft games right now, Daibanchou and Sengoku Rance in particular.  They're fun to play pretty light-heartedly but it can get pretty freakin' hardcore.  Meanwhile Chaos;Head has been pretty much a kinetic novel with minimal involvment, it's a good read so far.  I have a few issues but I'm generally impressed.  I'm getting to the point where VNs start blending together in my memory though, it's...weird.  Because I'm starting to gather quite a large collection of fiction I can make a lot of comparisons in what something does, well or poorly.  I also have a lot of character archetypes down so I find myself more impressed when I'm surprised by something.

The first few chapters of Chaos;Head aren't too great, but the later ones have been quite interesting.  I'm on chapter 6 as I said earlier.  I have 18 hours right now I think.  It's cool because I really have no idea what could happen next, that is a GOOD thing.

EDIT:
I also can't get Inganock to work, which makes me saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.  The screen goes black after Liar-soft goes away.  I tried moving the movies but the title screen won't even come out.  The game works perfectly before the English patch.

I picked up a little two ep OVA by the name of Natsuki Crisis. It was just on a whim, since I thought the name and cover art were cool.

First ep: Wow, this is pretty awesome.

Second ep: HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWESOME! I can't believe this isn't it's own series!

This is going up with Riding Bean as OVA's that are just too awesome for their own good.

It looks like originally it was a fighting game for the Super Famicom.  That's cool.
Oh god I have it backwards.  The game was made because of the OVAs and manga.

Anybody else think Jormungand looks awesome?  The first eight volumes are scanlated.  I'll be sure to check them out and possibly the new anime of it.

That looks really familiar. I just can't place where I saw it before though...

Tnx JoshauFH, Imma gonna grab that one, I love short series too, i saw another 90's OVA Battle Angel Alita a little while ago, damn depressing future though, the only profession choices seem to be bounty hunter or organ harvesting, or maybe scavenging rubbish heaps. Interested to read the manga now, since the OVA only covers the first two volumes, and I have more questions than answers about who da fuk Alita actually is, and what da hell is actually in the place the organs end up.

What is the difference between a seeded and unseeded school?

'seeded' in sports mean 'ranked', so this might mean school which have been assessed in some national ranking system, whereas unseeded schools do not participate in the rankings.

Googling around with the term "seeded school" i only find references to team sports, so it might be a shorthand for the school team's rank in a particular sport.

The only references in anime i can see is Slam Dunk, and the other reference to "seeded school" on page 1 of google, is to an American school's football team.

Almost every reference in general seems to be to school basketball teams.
