Star Blazers was pretty good when i was 9 years old, but watch Uchuu Senkan Yamato with subs instead. Star Blazers was heavily chopped up and bowdlerized. Anything deemed too mature for a retarded 8-year-old was removed (e.g. they blow up an alien base and Star Blazers adds additional dialogue claiming all aliens escaped on shuttles rather than got killed, and re-show footage of a single fighter taking off to justify this), and all the characters were renamed stuff like "Derek Wildstar" (Kodai Susumu in the original).

Plus, you miss out on the most humorous 'antics' of the robot in the dub version. I'll leave that to your imagination.

It might well be the most watchable anime from the 1970's, along with Lupin III

Finished watching TTGL series with the missus. Is there any reason to watch the two films? I'd appreciate if someone could tell what they add to the experience. The way I see it, the tv-show wrapped up the story quite nicely so I can't quite think of anything that could be added without making it feel superfluous.

Basically, this. The only reason to watch the movies. Bigger drills. And how.

Yes watch the films. They're basically squished versions of the show, but with added awesome and some story changes. The second one is a must see though simply for its rendition of the final battle.

Inuyasha is probably the worst anime I can think of in terms of just outright repeating episodes with slight alterations.

Hey man you should watch this anime called Dragonball Z. It's pretty underground you've probably never heard of it.

Inuyasha is far far worse... so much so that DBZ isn't even on the radar (Heck the other anime I was going to use as an example wasnt even DBZ).

The problem with Dragon Ball Z is it being slow and taking several episodes for something that should take exactly one.

Which is a problem with long runners too but not the one I am refering to. Especially since I've seen short animes have the same problem.

Don't tell anyone that you can see their shadows. If they hear you telling anyone, if you let them know that you know of them, they will get you.

Superfluous!? Nay, sir! Nothing of the sort!

Well, actually, a little bit. The first movie is for the first arc in the series, the second for the second. The beginnings of both are pretty much the same, the middles are pretty squished together and you might see some changes, and then the endings take you to higher levels of badass. Yes. Higher. As in more. More than the epitome of awesomeness.

I actually like the four generals in the first arc of the series more than I liked them in the movie. The Lordgenome fight was a bit better in the movie. No contest for the end fight in the second arc though, the movie blows the series out of the water.

Read the latest Gunslinger Girl chapter... and I get it now. They only permitted the last chapter to not completely suck because there was something awful in this one (and by suck and awful, I mean emotionally, not that the chapters themselves are bad).

461 chapters into Hajime no Ippo. I'm surprised by how addictive it is.

The latest Vinland Saga... man. Nothing can be calm, can it? I can understand where the guy's coming from though, the problem is the huge amount of situational irony. This could go either way, but it won't end well regardless.

TWGOK. Continue already. I want to know how this is going to resolve.

Well, there's 2 Light Novels that has been fully translated...that could distract you for a while (I have yet read them myself though).

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.
