I finally caved and watched the last handful of Bleach episodes in the Fullbring arc.  I admit it, I was impressed, even though it felt like a mix of a real Bleach season with tropes from a filler season.  I think they changed art styles too o_o  And upped the production, I swear the fancy effects are much, much fancier now.

Meant the anime, not the manga.  I thought caving implied giving into something that actually isn't all that great but you can't resist anyway?  I know Bleach is campy, cliche, and even borrows from itself to make new content.  But I couldn't resist watching it again.

Look at Cradle Song. It's still in development, but you can download a preview from the site. [link] They have a teaser trailer on youtube [link]. It looks like it'll have some good music. It's being developed in english right now. The full version will cost money when it gets released, but the preview is a pretty good introduction to VNs.

I know you can try Fate / Stay Night (with the realta nua patch and the english translation patch), but that's not technically free. It's just not for sale outside japan, afaik. Forum rules say I can't give you links or detailed directions on how to get it, so just use google.

I'd recommend reading through Fate Stay Night. That was the first VN I read, and it was damn good. The author can get pretty long-winded, and the sex scenes are impressively terrible (I've repressed them, personally), but the world-building, characters, and overall story are fantastic.

All of them are relatively short.

It's mostly going to depend on your tastes though. I'm not that much into magic and action stuff most of the time.

I'm actually pretty sure that the only common link between ToonyMan and my tastes is that 999 rocks, and Bakemonogatari wasn't as great as people made it out to be.

You can turn off the H scenes in Katawa Shoujo if you care about that.  Ever17, Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick, 999, and Corpse Party don't have any H scenes.  None of them are free though besides the fan games.  Every fan game I've finished has been awesome though.  The Contempt of Court...Witches & Woodlands...I finished the first day in the first episode of Seacats but I've been getting sidetracked.  I think you need the game for the Umineko fan games.

And yeah I'm pretty sure I have the complete opposite interests as Patchy.  I just don't do romance.  If anything I make fun of how horrible heroines are, almost always.  I like crazy stuff...

Alicesoft games are pretty cool too, great gameplay and big stories.

It's my reminder that nothing I will ever watch will have as many cheesy lines and situations. I still enjoyed watching it, but I definitely felt like I lost a chunk of my masculinity through it all.

In animes that were clearly off the wall and not meant to be planet earth that we live in.

Heck I saw someone with a natural lizard tongue in Keichi... but that is perfectly normal of that anime.

This is the equivilant of seeing a Purple Dinosaur in Diehard.
