So i just watched Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Fuckin' best anime ever.

Also, it's the only anime I've watched.

Afterwards I tried to get into Fooly Cooly and High school of the dead, and neither appealed to me. However, I am loving One Piece.

One Piece and Gurren Lagann were two of my favorite first ones.  I'd say go on to see FMA Brotherhood and Baccano! and maybe Haruhi or Neon Genesis Evangelion from there...

OR JUST JUMP STRAIGHT INTO KAIJI

I finished the 6th volume of DKaiji, great stuff.  Oh and volume 25 of Berserk is done too.

EDIT:
Completely forgot about Darker than Black, put that with FMA Brotherhood.  Monster probably wouldn't work too well.

What chapter are you on Toon in Kaiji? Not sure if I'm up to date.

Sengoku Basara is a lot like TTGL, IN FEUDAL JAPAN! It's not a mecha show but it has a fairly similar attitude.

Basara is on my read list, looks quite good.

Uh around chapter 60?  It's about 10 chapters a volume.  I'm talking about part 3.

I've been sorting through Madoka fanart recently. It's all pretty awesome, although there is entirely too much porn. I guess that's to be expected of the animes though.

I caught up on Kaiji. It's amazing how much thought can be put into the simplest things. Like, chapters and chapters of thought.

Also recently I watch Joe Hisaishi in Budoken, where all the greatest music Studio Ghibli has to offer performed by a full choir, orchestra, and the best musicians giving a live performance set to short clips from the relevant animations.

It was quite the show.

I'm assuming that almost everyone is going into fate zero having seen/read fate stay night already, so it isn't much of a spoiler there.
Two problems with that. For one, I'm not sure it's a safe assumption; just because they came out in a certain order or it's the most logical or "best" way to do it doesn't mean everyone does. Secondly, there could be people who intend to read/watch them both in the correct order but haven't yet, in which case you'd be spoiling things for the newcomers.

I don't see anticipation as a negative thing. It's kind of to be assumed. If the story had the coolest fights in the early bits, then it would peak to early in that respect. This story is well-written enough that the reader can expect a good build-up to the story climax.
Anticipation in general, yes, but it's kind of rare that something builds perfectly evenly across the whole thing. I'm guessing those interesting things you mentioned don't occur directly after something slightly less awesome and before something more awesome than themselves, for instance.

Also, something I didn't get during the first episode or two of Sengoku Basara (which is all I've seen):

Go back to Fooly Cooly. This will be you for almost all of it:

"What... why... this doesn't... huh?"

And then you with watch the end. And you will be glad.

Yesssss.  Kaiji is the best.

I'm almost done with the first volume of Gamble Fish thanks to you Josh.  This is some of the stupidest shit I have ever seen but it's so entertaining for some reason.  Seriously I feel dumber reading this and it makes me laugh like an idiot.  It's so stupid...it's so stupid...

STUPID STUPID STUPID

EDIT:
I'll probably read the 2nd volume at least.  I-it's not like I care or anything.

Awsome little manga a friend showed me by the name of Freak Squeele, it's pretty good.  Watch out for the indestructible gingerbread men though.
