You just reminded me that I've got to watch Angel Beats! Ep.2 sometime.

My choppy internet, however, isn't helping me in doing the above.

Ok, I just got around to finishing FLCL 30 seconds ago (saw the first couple of eps ages ago, just sat through the whole 6 in a row).

I really don't know what to think ...
Aliens. Space cops. Galactic Pirates. Guitars. Nothing else matters anymore.

No, they have a self defense force, but that's all they have. They do not have any standing military to be used for offense, just enough to defend their own homeland (with the help of US forces stationed there).
Of course the JSDF is among the most powerful and most modern militaries in the world.

I thought the department of agriculture was in charge of gundam?

The dean in Gamble Fish is named Abidani in a mostly realistic world. I powered through the first four volumes, and I noticed that he gets these bizarre close-ups atleast once a volume. He's goddamn freaky and awesome at the same time:

Spoiler: Abidani (click to show/hide)

He's basically an S&M Green Goblin Nazi. I still can't figure out why nobody just calls the cops on him.

Some characters are just above the law.

Like every single villain in Yu-Gi-Oh... or the Misfits from Jem and the Holograms.

I think the police'd rather arrest you if you told them that such a person was running around.

Because then it'd turn into an episode of Hellsing.

I started watching Guin Saga tonight on a lark and I have to say, this show is amazing. It's based on a 126 volume fantasy novel series so the plot is extremely condensed to the point where nothing makes any sense. Characters are introduced in rapid succession, I've only just finished watching episode four and I think every main character has already been introduced, I also still don't have much idea what's going on because names are thrown around without elaboration. Add to that the fact that the dub sometimes sounds like it was either intentionally parodic or translated by people with a tenuous grasp of English and you end up with gems like

"Your tears of shame will be the perfect seasoning."

But none of that matters because in the first episode the leopar-headed Guin introduces himself by literally punching a guy into a ground and then proceeds to punch another guy into a tree with such force that when his helmet strikes it the tree is lit on fire.

This anime is pure gold. Prisoners are left with swords which somehow become daggers which then turn back into swords, rafts drop from the sky, and there are fish with crabs where their throats should be.

Been watching Guin Saga back then as well, but got sidetracked again and forgot about it...very high fantasy stuff, basically it's kinda'/sorta' like Japan's own Lord of the Rings I think since it's been around since 1979(?). Alas, it's one of those neat stuff that had barely any love since so few has been translated and shared.

Rose Guns Days also had an image posted that implied it would be a Umineko and Higurashi prequel.
