The Digimon dub just made stuff up.  All the off-screen talking wasn't even in the original and it doesn't have any meaning whatsoever.  There's a comparison site somewhere that does almost every episode.  I read most of it for some reason.

This sounds right but they had a major web redesign it seems, it's kind of...hard to look at.

Yeah, I'm not even talking about trying to make it match up in length (see hilariously bad 1970's HK dubs), just that the very essence of these sort of pun jokes is lost in translation, because otherwise you have to attach footnotes and make it into a miniature language lesson.

999 actually loses a major piece of a puzzle in translation that thus just seems like a huge non-sequiter in English.  I mean, you only need a REALLY basic knowledge of Japanese to realise how it worked originally, but still.  That twist really was impossible to translate.

I finally got back into Apollo Justice, and I'm just beating my head against this case. I gotta figure out the secret behind a literal magic trick, given only tangential evidence, that shouldn't be physically possible.

Yeah Apollo Justice is definitely the most iffy of all the games.  It gets better again with Investigations at least.

To be fair, some fansubs do that, and I'm perfectly willing to pause and read, but I can understand not doing that for an official release.

To be fair, some fansubs do that, and I'm perfectly willing to pause and read, but I can understand not doing that for an official release.

Yeah, I greatly prefer this method, but it's not for everyone.

I just finished Turnabout Serenade in Apollo... WTF?

I was positive that Daryan was being framed! How did he get convicted?! There was NO solid evidence linking him to the murder! Nothing! Nothing at all! Just testimony and circumstantial evidence! I was positive that the reason Machi was so afraid was not only because of Borginia's promise of the death sentence to smuggling, but also that Valent Gramarye had him under threat of death to keep his mouth shut!

The problem isn't just there, but I feel that while Daryan is the only person we know that had both motive and opportunity to commit the crime, Valent is the only person with the skill, knowledge, and preparation to pull it off! He's the only one that could've taken Machi and Letouse's body through the air vent and propped them up on the 15 ft tall platform without anyone noticing a thing, especially since only Machi's fingerprints were found on the vent and only Valent is wearing gloves. The second set of gunshot's idea? That's a perfect fit for Valent's talents, given that it's not something that you'd think Daryan to come up with at literally a moment's notice.

Plus, if there was a struggle, it's odd that there's no fingerprints at the crime scene... and that the gun was left just inches away from the dying man's hand... and the angle of the gunshots is still weird!

And the attempted murder of Lamirior? She says she was hit by an object, and what better fit than Valent's little staff? Especially since Valent comes up to us literally moment's before the trial's start and goes "Well, guess I'm going to skip town now! Bye!" and then disappears.

The only thing I can't explain is how Valent intended to be on stage and at the crime scene at the scene time (and impersonating Daryan while committing the crime knowing that Lamiroir was passing overhead). Maybe he had a body double for Lamiroir prepared to take his place as a body double for Lamiroir?

And about the recording, we only hear a single gunshot. Where'd the second one come from? Apollo just kind of writes it off, but I'm curious, gunshots are way way way too loud for even a small microphone to not pick them both up. Especially for a gun of that caliber.

Man, I'm probably forgetting something. On to the next case I guess.
