Anyone whose better at analyzing than I am want to give first impressions on the new anime that's been released this season thus far? I gotta say I've been pleasantly surprised with the few I've been able to see thus far. Particularly Senhime Zesshou and Rinne no Lagrange given the rather lackluster summary they were given on the site where I watched them.

On a whim I watched the first two episodes of Shakugan no Shana (Eclipse subs 720p thanks to Elysium).

Oh gog that was sad.  ;_;  Even if JC Staff does the anime it was still pretty good.  It's amazingly mellow I was expecting slapstick comedy like in every shounen-type thing but I was pleasantly surprised.  Hmmm should I watch another or die again in Corpse Party.

Episode 3 was good mostly, episode 4 was the worst episode so far.  Must...die...in Corpse party.

I wonder what series has the worst single episode (that wasn't the ending or start) while we are on that topic... hmmmm...

Naw impossible to tell.

Really terrible episodes tend to be forgotten immediately if they are followed by good ones.

Flipping original and funny?

It does have it's rather tasteless moments, but it has it's really awesome ones as well.

Still waiting on season 2.

It does however go far enough that it is one of those series that can just turn you off and repulse you.

It is one of the few shows that I watched that I had no temptation to finish (though mostly because I figured it had no REAL plot and that all problems would be effortlessly solved once they try anyhow).

I will say one thing about that show... Their cannon fodder cops are surprisingly competent. They have almost solved problems all on their own if the villains weren't technically invincible.

It depends on the kind of "terrible".  If you mean boring, filler or substandard, then yeah, you can easily forget those if they're followed by exciting episodes.  If they're actively awful, they never leave you.

Nah there was just a lot of stupid fanservice and I was rather annoyed by a character and then the ending was kind of silly and stupid.

I played Corpse Party last night, got all the name tags for Chapters 1-4, also finished Extra Chapters 1-5, and 7.  Those were weird...

EDIT:
Episode 5 and 6, bleh.  That story arc ended really stupid and felt rushed.  To the dropped list!

Katawa Shoujo's music continues to grow on me. I said it was unremarkable at first, but looking back, the soundtrack is very good overall, and the music generally fits the scene well, except for Shizune's route. Some of the lighter-mood tracks feel very overplayed, but the tracks for dramatic/emotional scenes are all incredible. The amount of work put into the music is wonderful.

My playlist has grown to accommodate a lot more tracks from KS, including:
  • Parity
  • Cold Iron
  • Concord
  • Friendship
  • Letting My Heart Speak
  • Painful History
  • Red Velvet

It's really impressive, considering I only listen to a couple of songs in other VNs.

Planetarian, I can remember that sad music box song that all VNs require, Gentle Jena, and Perfectly Human.

Can't remember anything from YMK or True Remembrance.

Narcissu had a soundtrack full of piano pieces as well, but there's more variety in the KS soundtrack.

On another note, I'm going to start Mawaru Penguindrum.

Umineko's soundtrack is god-tier.  I can't even list them all the majority are memorable.

Anyway, holy shit Book 7 of Haruhi is crazy I'm almost to the epilogue.  This was a good vooolume.

Cool. Went with the traditional "picked Saber since I just began" route?

Okay I read Tsuki no Sango.
Daaaaaaaaw that was sweet.  :3  I shouldn't have expected murder and death in every Nasuwork even though this one was a bit apocalyptic.
Well, you've been reading waaaaayy to much things that end in horrible horrible deaths lately.

Damn.....I haven't played VN's for so long I hardly remember the ones I did play and the wonderful music they have...
