I've had three days of nothing to do so it's just what ends up happening.  The ending was really cool though.
Spoiler: **ending spoilers** (click to show/hide)

I just contemplated playing those simply because of this, but then I realized that doing things because they're (comparatively) unpopular is stupid.
Then you could play them because they're good!  Wait... actually, out of those I can only really recommend Umineko (FSN has lots of terrible bits, Higurashi mainly picks up at the end but has a lot of filler, Tsukihime I haven't played and I'm not entirely sure I ever want to).
If I had to recommend those four VNs to other people it would be
 Umineko > Higurashi > Fate/stay night > Tsukihime

Because Umineko is a legitimate read all the way through, Higurashi is pretty goofy sometimes and the beginning is a bit slow, Fate/stay night is absoulately awful sometimes but can also be really cool plus you're pretty much obligated to watch/read Fate/zero which is really good, and Tsukihime is last because I wouldn't even recommend it to myself.  I don't ever remember actually enjoying a scene fullheartily and if I did I was mentally drained and broken.
Spoiler: Tsukihime (click to show/hide)

Wait why do I like Tsukihime again.

I read a let's play of tsukihime. They guy used a safe for work version and he used a comedy gimmick to censor the sex scenes. I just mentally block out as much as I can in those scenes.

Aside from those scenes, I remember tsukihime being surprisingly badass and awesome. There's even one story route where he spends about half the time stuck in bed. It was creepy as hell. There are some things that Nasu can do really well in fiction, but writing sex scenes isn't one of them. I heard that he gets much better with the post-tsukihime scenes.

Seriously. I could pull out a quote, but I've promised myself that I would forget them. Unfortunately for us both, it's relevant to the subject.

At least that's what's left in my head. Can someone else vouch for that quote being accurate?

Edit: Removed a text-based affront to humanity.

Has anyone seen Desert Punk? My friend says it's pretty good.

Started Anohana and Madoka.

It's a bit frustrating. In Anohana, I have just started, and my first impressions of Menma are not very good at all. That is bad because she seems to be a very important character.

I've only gotten past the first 3 episodes of Madoka. It seems okay. I like the art, except for walking animations. For some reason, SHAFT's walking animations just seem off. No real strong impressions of any of the characters, and no real impressions on the dialogue.

My friend says I should at least finish one more arc of Bakemonogatari. She seems to like the next arc. I'll try for it, I guess.

Maybe it's because Tatami Galaxy was so good that I have a difficult time getting a strong impression of these shows I'm picking up.

EDIT: My friend likes Desert Punk, but we have vastly different tastes, and I don't know what he looks for in the show. I'm sorry it's not much help.

This, oh so much. I've been reading that manga a few days from now, and she's very creepy. She keeps that stepford smile on, does things to... things her senpai used, and appears just about everywhere.

I never felt this creeped out in a few months or so reading a manga.

EDIT2: I wait what? That was not the surprise I was expecting. ಠ_ಠ

Ryuugu Rena from Higurashi, in my experience, wins the prize for being adorable and creepy as fuck all at once.
