Almost finishing the golden age arc and the whole part the anime covers, after that everything is unknown.

But the manga covers many things that the anime did not, after some point it gets very, very grimdark, and there's 2 1/2 sex scenes, and they're all really fucked up and dramatic, in a very "OH CRAP WHY I'M READING THIS WHY CAN'T I STOP READING" way.

Also, godo is dwarfyness persofied.

I love it so much.

Started Marimite Season 3, finished the first three episodes.

I like the slight art upgrade.

First episode was OK. I was initially disappointed with Yumi being greedy with Sachiko, especially considering the end of the second season was spent teaching Yumi to grow up, but I'm satisfied with how it turned out in the end. It felt like there was an abnormal amount of dangerously cheesy lines though. I really don't know how I put up with it through the entire series. I sort of roll around in the bed, fighting my blanket while I mutter or yell "oh god she's doing it again". I think it's because while definitely eyeroll-worthy, they don't sound terribly obsessive when saying those lines, the line only sticks around for a second in my head, and they are accompanied by nice background music.

Except for the entire thing with past Sei, but she's changed, and I am just hoping I will never see that level of psychotic desperation ever again.

I will admit that I sometimes succumb to the intense saccharinity of the dialogue and roll around with my heart fluttering.

Second episode felt really weak. Sachiko's hatred of men really doesn't feel as fleshed out as it could have been.

EDIT: Finished the third episode. Don't know how I feel about Kanako.

I didn't really like it at first. Kanako seems a bit loose in the head. And I didn't like the greenhouse scene... at first. I rolled my eyes at Sachiko's lines. But then the end happened, and it honestly just felt right, like there was no other way that they should have ended it. The greenhouse scene fell into place and it was glorious. I rolled around the bed more and made weird noises. I felt like I got drunk from the mushiness. My favorite episode of the season so far.

It was just an OK episode. I think girls in the show are only mean for 1 episode, because Kanako really cleaned up in a hurry. Even Touko is warming up.

Okeydokey girls and boys!  I've finished another 999 route and this time Junpei is able to outwit th--aah who am I kidding Junpei gets owned again.

I'm gonna call this the Axe Route, since the ending picture is an Axe.  I assume you get this by taking either door 4 or 5, then either door 7 or 8, and then door 1 finally.  It definitely has a few revelations.

Axe Route  (listed as a BAD END)
1.  There is a dead 'captain' in the door 1 room wearing a Zero bracelet.  I believe he is a decoy to hide the true Zero.
2.  Clover goes crazy and minagoroshi's ALMOST EVERYONE (due to thinking Santa and Seven killed Snake and June was just in the way).  I believe she is not Zero and just went Hinamizawa Syndrome on everybody.
3.  Clover says she's going to use the 0, 4, and 5 bracelets to leave the 9 door, this is evidence that Ace did in fact use the 9 bracelet to murder Snake.
4.  After Clover, June, Santa, and Seven go to door 2 Ace 'wants to show' Lotus something and then me.  They leave and Junpei never learns what happens because Clover comes back.
5.  We never learn that there is two 9 doors in this route, Clover makes everybody go to door 2 first.  Not that it matters, they wouldn't be able to make two 9 digital roots and all escape anyway.
5.  Also interestingly this is the only ending I have where the person who kills Junpei is clearly shown.

Status at the point of Junpei's death:
Ace and Lotus went somewhere.
Clover is heading to the nine doors.
Ninth Man is exploded, Snake is exploded.
Everyone else was Axe'd to death by Clover.


This is actually kind of neat let me do the other two routes I have.


Knife Route  (listed as a BAD END)
Go through door 4 or 5, then door 7 or 8, then go through door 6.
1.  You discover that there is two 9 doors and that the warehouse has photo IDs of the characters with the 1-9 bracelets.
2.  Seven, Lotus, and Clover go through door 1 and we learn that Clover disappeared.
3.  After splitting up to search for her quickly Junpei stumbles upon a very very freshly killed Lotus on floor E.
4.  He is killed by an unknown source via backstab.  Probably Zero.

Status at the point of Junpei's death:
Ninth Man and Snake are exploded.
Lotus was stabbed by someone.
Clover is missing.

Yeah it's really vague in this ending.


Submarine Route (listed as a THE END...OR IS IT?)
You get this ending by going through door 4 or 5, then door 3.

1.  The most radically different of the endings so far.
2.  You discover Snake's corpse pretty gruesomely.
3.  Nobody actually goes through door 7 or 8 in this which is weeeeeeeeird.
4.  You go through door 2 with Seven and Lotus kind of mandatory.  You also learn a whole heck of a lot about Seven and Lotus' pasts.  Which actually connect with the children...Seven saves all of the children but one I believe and Lotus had twin daughters that were both saved.
5.  When we come back we find Santa, Clover, and Ace dead.  Seven checks Clover's pulse and says she's dead.
6.  The three of us go through the Sun Door without having to use our Sun Key and Junpei finds June dying next to a submarine.  Junpei holds her while she's dying and then notices Seven and Lotus are missing.
7.  Junpei finds Seven and Lotus dead right outside the submarine room.  He's pretty depressed and crazy at this point and decides to just try to leave using the submarine.  Instead as he leans over to grab the hatch he's stabbed in the back...again.  By 'Zero' most likely.

Status at the point of Junpei's death:
Ninth Man and Snake are exploded.
Everybody is killed by 'Zero'.

We never learn of the dead Captain's existence in the Knife or Submarine route.

Ace is still the killer of course.  I've already explained the Knife and Submarine routes so let me explain the Axe route.
Ace kills Lotus when they leave Junpei.  He probably didn't expect (or maybe he did?  he was with us when we searched door 1) Clover to kill everybody and I don't know what he did next but he definitely killed Lotus.  Probably Clover afterwards as well.

I could tell because hardly any of the sports scenes were animated.

It's okay, because the voice cast is delicious, and 90% of the time, there's not a whole lot to animate anyways.

Is there any way to skip puzzles in 999?  I'm on my 4th playthrough and I've hit the point where I'm constantly doing the same puzzles over and over again being able to skip them would be nice.

No, unfortunately -- which is probably its biggest flaw. A Fate or Tsukihime-style skip function would be incredibly helpful. At the very least, once you have them memorized you can blow through most of the steps in no time.

I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the true ending; I say no more to avoid even indirect spoilers.

So I'm doing Door 8 again in my 4th playthrough.  And this time when Lotus is on the computer she actually has a lot of new dialogue that talks about guess what, more mind telepathy shit.

This is like the 4th or 5th character to talk about mind telepathy shit.  My guess?

IT'S THE MATRIX

No seriously.  The reason they are able to be on this boat is actually because Zero is projecting their brain into these 'bodies'.  All of the windows are blocked with iron blocks because there isn't actually anything out there.  Nothingness.

I don't really have anything else to say, that's about it.


...Kind of curious that the safe in Door 5 is completely unused...we might have a use for it later maybe??

Since I went through Door 5 and then Door 8 Clover is actually telling me new stuff as well!  Snake wasn't born blind, he got in a car accident and lost his sight and his left arm.

Snake's left arm is fake.

I need to see his corpse again.  I distinctly remember a left ulna bone jutting out.  If that is the case we are really in some deep shit.

Started Season 4 of Marimite.

With episode 2, the way Kanako's problems ended was really disappointing. I felt like it happened way too fast, especially considering how much of a hater she was before. It already goes ridiculously fast in the novel, so it's a pity they skimped out on even more details so they could fit everything into one episode. I wish Sachiko gave some sort of reaction to Kanako's dad problems.

In episode 3, I'm somewhat bummed out that Kanako isn't going to be Yumi's petite soeur, but she cleaned up so fast, I don't think she'd get much out of being one. It's a shame that she'll probably be that background character that doesn't really do anything, but had an incredibly short and weakly-fleshed backstory.

It returned to a more normal pace after the third episode, which I like. Kanako really doesn't do anything, but I'm glad she sticks around and is on good terms with Touko.

Not much thoughts about episode 4. Sachiko's mad face makes me laugh.

In episode 5, Mr. Fabulous returns in a more forward form, and is actually a really cool dude. I liked the talk he had with Yumi near the end.

Not much thoughts about episode 6. Touko is warming up to me though.

The end of episode 7 broke my heart. Yumi crying about Touko turning down the rosary made me tear up. I'm honestly really happy with how much the characters change through the series.
