Both of the [MII] releases use ordered chapters. It's a feature of the mkv container that allows one mkv to link to another seamlessly in playback. In this case, the OP and ED have been cropped out of every episode, and separate OP and ED files have been added that link to the episodes automatically. It saves about 100-400mb per episode depending on the show. The only downside is that it breaks compatibility on most players (especially VLC, actually), causing playback to loop back to the beginning at the end of the first regular chapter.

One solution to install a player setup that supports them. The easiest to install is CCCP, as it automatically installs and sets up a player (MPC-HC) and codecs that will play anything fansub groups release, including mkvs with ordered chapters and hi10p encodes. They also have another program (Insurgent) that will clean up any codecs currently installed that could potentially conflict with a CCCP install.

Alternatively just remove the OP and ED files from the folder for the time being. Obviously the episodes will no longer have them, but it will save you the trouble of doing any of the shit listed above.

It's too bad I already deleted the goddamn files.

I'll only continue if it gets better.  Sorry for my...overactive attitude, it was two in the morning and I get really excited when cool stuff happens and I'm sleep deprived.

Also, since I'm a bit settled down let me fix my theory up.

Ace is still the killer.

I am unsure about Seven now that I know a bit of his past but Ace is still a huge fog.

Alright, when Junpei, Seven, and Lotus stumble upon the 'corpses' of Ace, Santa, and Clover there is a very interesting thing to note.  Seven only checked Clover's pulse.  He never checks if Santa or Ace are alive.

MY THEORY

Ace kills Santa and Clover easy enough, June manages to run away into the sun key room somehow?! (we'll have to get back to that) and Ace finally cuts her down.  He realizes that June running away was really reckless and he doesn't have the time to move her back and clean the blood and everything so he just leaves her there and runs back to Santa and Clover.  Ace then fakes his death along with the other two.

Seven not checking Santa or Ace's pulse is annoying because that could still make him an accomplice with Ace.  But...that just seems weird.  Every character has a pretty realistic background so far besides Ace.  So I believe Ace is really Zero and Seven's compulsion to keep doors unlocked is just that, a compulsion.

Ace then of course gets up, kills Seven and Lotus, and then stabs Junpei in the back, making him drop into the water and sink to his death.

In my first bad ending we find Lotus dead, and then 'the killer' stabs Junpei in the back again and rides the elevator back up.  I'm guessing that Junpei became one of the first victims and that Ace was going to start his massacre around then but Junpei dies too early to see.

Ace was the one who suggested they split up to look for how to fix the REDs.  He was able to use that time to kill Snake.

Seven also supported it too.  :\  Argh.

At least, I guess unlike Umineko this isn't family but mostly a bunch of strangers who are related to all of this by a single link usually.

Shit's glorious, even if I don't like most of the golden age arc as much as the others, seeing pre-god hand griffith and the huge drama between him, gutts and caska makes it all worth it.

Not to mention its basicaly Mount&Blade: manga edition. Extremely detailed pictures of battlefields and armor and blood all around.

Watching Steins;Gate.

This anime is not allowed to have memes and overwhelmingly depressing themes. I forbid it. It feels like a completely different anime half-way through... which is really neat but also "omg the sadness". For those of you who have seen it in its entirety, is it a suitable addition to the list of animes boiled in the tears of heartbroken dreamers (Gunslinger Girl, Evangelion, Saikano, etc.)?

Almost finishing the golden age arc and the whole part the anime covers, after that everything is unknown.

But the manga covers many things that the anime did not, after some point it gets very, very grimdark, and there's 2 1/2 sex scenes, and they're all really fucked up and dramatic, in a very "OH CRAP WHY I'M READING THIS WHY CAN'T I STOP READING" way.

Also, godo is dwarfyness persofied.

I love it so much.

Alright, so islands are cool.  Island survival stories could be even cooler.

Cage of Eden is not cool.  I don't think I will ever find an island survival manga I will actually enjoy fully.  :[

Our hero, Sengoku, is the most terrifying existence I have ever seen.

The Sengoku Effect, anybody who opposes him agressivly dies by some natural cause.  Whether that be a wild animal killing them, falling off a cliff, or a flash flood drowning them in less than a minute.  Point is, you screw you Sengoku, the world fucks you.

Mariya meanwhile, is probably my favorite of the core cast.  He's pessimistic and smart and does cool stuff that makes sense.  I actually don't have any complaints with this character.

My main problem though, is the stupid and predictable nature of the plot.  Which is stupid.  Now, Cage of Eden has definitely improved but the first 80 or so chapters I believe(?) is just straight up recyclation after recyclation.  Sengoku and friends meet another group of people, one or two of them will be an attractive girl and possibly a 'cool male friend'.  The rest of the group will just be...evil.  Just evil for whatever reason.  Whether that means that have a bad attitude or it just comes out of nowhere.  Either way, the majority of the group they meet will oppose Sengoku, and not be killed by Sengoku, but magically killed by sudden ineptitude and bad luck.

It was hell going through the early chapters because it was predictable, boring, and most importantly enraging when I saw cool antagonist characters JUST KILLED IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS.  They were never allowed to escape devilishly and devise their own faction, oh no.  Antagonists aren't allowed to stay alive unless they're Arita.  And admittedly, I kind of like Arita but he still needs improvement.

Like, in Arita's arc that was actually really cool.  But then they just ditch him and he's supposedly "dead" which I doubt so I hope he just shows up soon and hopefully without anymore stupid ugh.

And Suzuki, Suzuki will always be awesome.  The fighter girl that always gets the ass shots is pretty cool too.

Oh speaking of ass shots, it has an ecchi tag for a reason.  I don't like the ecchi but I'm not going to gripe that because it's part of the genre thing.  At least it's not as explicit as Battle Royale which basically has porn in it.


Cage of Eden has definitely had a boost in quality recently.  Around when Zaji dies is when the series really starts improving.  It starts focusing on new groups of characters.  There is actual character development, even if sort of poor.  People don't just die so fucking fast you don't know what's going on.  You can actually remember a character's name and what they're like.  Before then it was really difficult.

Then again even with this a lot of the characters still suck.  Two thirds of them are just fan service loads that don't help and I would say I actually only like a tenth of the characters in Sengoku's group right now.

Yarai is okay I guess.  He kind of pissed me off at first because he looks fucking ridiculous and gives the impression of acting too cool.  But he's actually a kind of nice guy with brains and brains are good.  His girl posse is pretty useless though but I've got a thing for senseis.

Anywho, when I first started reading Cage of Eden I would give it a 2/10 for having good art.  Now probably a 5/10 or 6/10 for at least slowing down the character deaths and giving the much needed development instead of just nonsense death and shit.

Wait...there's still really stupid deaths and shit but at least uuh yeah I got nothing.  A nice large group helps I guess?

Point is, the art is nice, the characters mostly suck for either being useless, unsympathetic, or insanely stupid, the plot is clearly made up on the spot (which I don't really mind as long as it's GOOD PLOT), and Suzuki is the best.  That is all there is to say on the matter.

There's character deaths mentioned in this so you probably want to get up to date first.

I would like it a lot more if there was more human-on-monster violence, though. I mean yes, they're huge and scary and invincible, but really the whole cast has killed like a few vultures so far? GET UP YOU USELESS PEOPLE AND START KILLING THINGS ALREADY.
