I'll reask this question JIC people know the answer but didn't notice it the first time. (though most likely people don't know the answer)

In Japan how much power do schools have over their students?

More then once have I seen schools threaten to expel a students for things such as living in the same household as another student. As in the school has full authority to punish the child off of non-illegal lifestyle choices.

It sounds almost like Japanese schools are all private or something and thus they can make up the rules as they go.

“Well,” he said. “We’re in the Forgotten hunting grounds I take it. Your screams just woke them up early. Congratulations, Lyara.”
“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.
“There, I did something. I clapped. I like clapping,” he said. -The Investigator And The Case Of The Missing Brain.

Final episode of KnK is done! And since it's Nasu there's at least 5 obvious dangling plot threads that the ending doesn't address.  Hooray.
The Epilogue OVA answers a lot....though if there are some left, the answers are probably in some interviews or side materials.
Oh?  Is the epilogue OVA listed as that internet video on wikipedia?

I already told myself I will never ever read Fate/Kaleid.
You listen to yourself?
Huh. You've been corrupted by the Nasuverse enough so I also find that statement odd. If you really don't want to then I recommend the [Ronpaia] One Day! doujins series by Fue. It's basically Carnival Phantasm with the FSN+Ataraxia cast making trouble life interesting.
Bah.  Urobuchi wrote Fate/Zero, which was amazing, but at the same time he wrote Madoka Magica (and to a lesser extent, Saya no Uta) which I didn't like at all.  I enjoy Fate somwhat, but Fate/Kaleid is a magical girl series so I don't really want to get let down again.

Also I'm totally Gilgamesh.  I'm incorruptible.  One day I'll just put the traits of every character I know into one and see what happens.  Kukuku hohoho ahaha

Although I've seen One Day! around I think.  I'll probably read that.  I've played all of Fate/hollow that was translated and I do like the 'Black Panther' and the suit lady (Bazett or something) a lot.

One thing I'd like to say is that Melty Blood needs a scene skip feature.  I have to keep playing Story Mode over and over again and have to keep speeding through the same scenes over and over again.  Even at warp speed it takes too long.  I'd rather just get to new material instantly, oh well.

EDIT:
Oh nevermind I was thinking of Himuro no Tenchi Fate/School Life.  I guess this just adds more to the pile.

Also holy shit a doujin that isn't porn.

How can I get to Fate / Hollow Ataraxia? Last I heard, the translation project was nowhere near completion.

I've read a bunch of Fate / Kaleid Liner Prisma (or however it's spelled). I don't have much of a reference for that genre, but I've found it pretty funny. Check out the tvtropes.org page for that series. For forum sanity, I won't link there.

How much stuff is available in the Fate setting? I've:
  • read the VN
    watched the series
    watched the ova
    watched the movie
    am watching fate zero
read most of the magical girl series
read a little bit of the manga
I know I'm missing:
  • Hollow Ataraxia (not translated yet)
the light novel of fate zero (haven't gotten around to reading it)
Melty Blood series (I haven't read the fan disk VN)
Battle Moon wars (I think I have to watch all of Kara no Kyoukai to get the plot, plus the tsukihime fan disk)

I'm almost certain that I'm missing several things. Carnival Phantasm rings a bell, but I don't know what it is.

There's a partial patch out that does about 40% of the game right now.  There'll probably be another one soon never sometime that goes to like 64% or something.

A second patch covering 65.4% of it is out now, according to the latest VNTS.

Wooooooooooooooah
There goes my night.  Seriously.  Next thing I know Witch Hunt will finish Umineko.

EDIT:
Hmm maybe that just means the text translations.  I know the text translations are around the 64% something mark but I meant more actually in the game translations.  :P  2.1 was what I used before and it still seems to be the latest on the TLwiki.

Yeah I saw that.  I see that VN update thread on /jp/ every week, hehe.  He said he'd probably be finished around Christmas.

The exciting thing is that they're actually updating their progress page!  42% now.

So I finished Saya no Uta.  Hrm.  Urobuchi, that wasn't too good at all.  In fact I pretty much called it terrible until the last 1/3 of it which is somewhat good during one of the endings.  Although it's not even the true ending.  The true ending was pretty bleh.  This isn't as dark as a lot of things I've seen as well so it's kind of lacking there too even though I heard this is suppose to get really bad.  The H scenes were also pretty bad I could only really read through the first one.

Again this could have been better if it was longer and also did more cool stuff.  The way it is now just feels kind of empty, and it will probably always stay that way.  I guess there's a few lasting touches on me but otherwise I'm not seeing anything special.

Plus with that small a character cast and such a high mortality rate there's no real attachment with anybody besides one or two characters.

Does it have a resonable ending point, or does the translation stop right in the middle of a conversation?

Fate/hollow?  It's perfectly playable.  The next scene you have to do to continue the plot is untranslated so that's where you get stuck.  The translators notify you so you won't be going in blind.

EDIT:
Fate/hollow is very segregated anyway so any place they stop at would be pretty reasonable.
Also the KnK epilogue was like, 30 minutes of my life killed by Shiki.

EDITEDIT:
Nero is voiced by Nakata Jouji in Melty Blood!  I freakin' knew it!  Nobody could mishear that voice,

nobody

Souren, Nero, and Kotomine should hold a party at some point.

Hmmm still trying to decide if I hated Umineko or actually loved it.

It actually is quite tricky for me since I actually dislike cruelty but like how the debates of the anime were set up. Though from the spoilers I hear the later parts of the anime just go insanely insane to the point where I question how it COULD be good.

Though since I still havn't seen the next season of Umineko yet (the anime) I question if I ever will.

Anyone ever had an anime where they weren't sure if they liked or hated it? What makes it tough is that some animes when it went well it really went well and when it went bad it REALLY went bad.

Right now as I wait for Persona 4 anime to continue I am going to finish Vanguard (UGH!!! is that anime boring! The only anime I can think of that does those kinds of games worse of Bakugon). Right now the Cardgame anime FINALLY got into the "Little kid starts to play the game" plotline. Which from what I found out never goes anywhere.

Though the only time I was really disapointed in that was in The Mightiest Diciple if only because the noobie was basically the female version of the main character and could bring a new dynamic into the anime as well as throw off the love triangle creation actual dramatic tension. The other times I saw those plotlines I could ignore it (Naruto handled it probably the best. In that during the Timeskip we see the kid who is supposed to be a prodigy, capable of becoming to Hokage, was apperantly more talented then even Naruto was at that age)

If you have time to watch lots of anime series you aren't interested in you could instead spend the time reading one VN series you are interested in?  I mean that would allow you to basically see the second series (and a lot of clarification/ expansion on the first series) now.  And the first episode is even a free demo and PS3-ified.
