There's a theory that genius detectives are actually the bringers of death and misfortune to their acquaintances and anyplace they visit...like they always carry super conductive & explosive lighting rods that summons storm clouds. The whole "always just in the right place at the right time" handwaving is bullcrap after hundreds of "Crazy Random Happenstance" cases.

Heh, I always found it funny that some random carpenter/driver/everyman is a criminal mastermind that can create almost foolproof close/locked door mysteries and such.

Current Events
Blerg.  Wake up to a typical Monday morning.

Have breakfast with Sakura, Fujimura, and Saber.  I leave for school last and I'm able to convince Saber to stay at the house a since I can take care of myself at school.  When I get to school I find out Shinji and Ayako are absent today which is a bit worrying.  I sense some sweetness in the air but ignore it and eat some lunch with Issei in the School Council room.  Issei has apparently been really tired lately and tries to nap during lunch, only for Kuzuki-Sensei to come in suddenly and shake Issei up.
After some shady talking between the two I snoop for details out of Issei who tells me Ayako is like, completely missing.

She was last seen with Shinji in front of the Archery Club Room.
I think it's funny to note that I saw Shinji in 2/4 of the first playthrough.  He yelled at Sakura for not being at the Archery Club that morning so it's funny to see some weird parallels going on.
Anyway, school ends and I wonder around the building for clues of Ayako's whereabouts.  After some time passes by I head for the stairs when

Oh hey there Tohsaka.  It's just you and me here by now right?  Hah, ha, ha, ha...

RUN SHIROU RUN
I dash away from Tohsaka and begin to play a game of cat and mouse in the school building when suddenly both of us hear a scream coming from the first floor.  We both stop what we're doing (me being killed) and run downstairs, only to found a half-dead first year student barely alive.  Tohsaka begins to sort the girls wounds when I sense a presence and instinctively cover Tohsaka only for

Somebody's nail/dagger to implant into my forearm.
Rider's
Not even screaming in pain, I run at the source and find myself outside of the school building in the woods nearby.  I think I see Shinji for a moment but before that this mask-wearing pink haired lady shows up in front of me.  I don't know who she is but she's definitely a Servant.  I manage to spar with her somehow with a chair leg and try to run away since this isn't very advantageous of me.  Right before getting back over the fence though, I realize my fatal mistake.

Rider's nail is still in my arm.

She pulls me back like a tape measurer and I find myself dangling from a tree at least eight feet up, by my arm.  Rider goes for the killing blow only for a torrent of blue spells to fly at here.  One of them hits my chain and I fall onto my back.  Rider flees and I find Tohsaka next to me, the one who was trying to kill me earlier.  She decides Rider and her Master are a bigger threat to her and brings me to her house.  We form a truce their for now and she has Archer escort me back home.  It's around 7pm now.
Archer and I exchange words right before I get home and we hate each other, just like sometime ago.  He leaves and I come home for some beatings from Saber and some dinner from Sakura.  We eat and we all go to bed the same way like last night.  Fujimura says Ayako was found and she's okay as well.  I wonder if I'll see her tomorrow.

I think it's just the word they're using for "soul" since "Ghost in the Shell" sounds better than "Soul in the Shell".

It's used to refer to the thing that makes a person a person, which is a pretty important thing in a world where their flesh-and-blood body might be a small pile of ash somewhere.

I think the choice to use "ghost" instead of "soul" or "spirit," and also "shell" instead of "body" or "android" was pretty creative.  It makes the title very blunt.  It's like it says "you are only haunting a hollow body.  It's not yours.  You should be dead.  Feel lucky that you aren't dead."

I think the 'shell' is used as a play on "A shell of his/her former self", or as a comparison to a container/vessel, as in you are not also your body, you are only contained within it's fake confines.

Mix the two together and you get a pretty awesome (although with chilling implications) title with a solid message.

Well, I've finished episode 5 of GiTS.

Pretty cool, brah, and now I know where that weird symbol came from now. I am also loving the little Tachikoma omakes at the end of each episode.

Also... I have a confession to make.

My friend told me "Hey Acanthus, I herd you like military scifi/fantasy, so why not watch Nanoha?" (as well as A's and StrikerS.)

And then I was like "What? Isn't that a cookie-cutter Magical Girl animoo?"

I'm still on the first show, episode 5... no military in sight ;-;. It seems like your standard Magical Girl schtick. Although the weird cowlick thing everyone seems to have is kinda funny to watch out for.

Is it good or should I dump it? I want to knowww

Nahona is good. Bascially, the studio was told to make a generic magical girl anime, did so (Mostly. It's noticeable that they don't like it too much) for the first few episodes, then decided "Fuck it, this is getting embarrassing. Let's make it badass."

The military scifi/fantasy doesn't really come into play until the near end of the first season, but it's what the entire second is about.
