I finally finished Code Geass.  Last year I watched all the way to episode 23 of R2 before stopping and getting busy with other things.  Today I finally watched episodes 23-25.  That was pretty cool.  I liked the whole series mostly.

About time!

In this run of Catherine, now that I understand how texting works, it's really pushing me a lot more towards the chaotic side.

I finished watching Hajime No Ippo: New Challenger!

This is one of those rare anime that allow you to ignore the manga altogether, if only because it's copied from it so flawlessly, except with the addition of WHEE Special effects!

The 26 episode series covers the first few of Ippo's Title defenses, the introduction of Itagaki and his first two matches, the second beach outing, and Takamura's world title match! It's quite a few chapters of the manga, but it's a miserably small portion when compared to how much is left.

I heard there's going to be a third season, but I couldn't tell you how many more seasons it would need to cover the manga in it's entirety.

Yeah I saw it awhile ago.  It's one of the reasons why I started playing Professor Layton.  Too bad it's going to be 3DS exclusive and Japan-only.  Double bummer.

TIME TIME PARADOX TIME PARADO—
Lancer flees after fighting with Saber.  I am dumbfounded by this girls appearance still and I try to speak with her to figure out what's going on.  Before anything prominent happens Saber senses two hostiles outside and runs towards them before I could react.  I chase after.
There I see Saber about to slash the red jacket man I saw earlier!  In a moment of clairvoyance I call out to Saber to stop what she's doing right now!  At that moment my left hand burns in pain and I see one of my three command spells dissipate.  Archer backs up a bit and the four of us look at each other for moment.  It's Tohsaka!  Why is Tohsaka here?!  Tohsaka thanks me for sparing her and she's says she'll tell me all about what's going on since I'm pretty clueless.  We go inside and everything plays out very familiarly...
After that we go see Kirei at the church so that I can be inducted into the Holy Grail War officially...
Huh, this is all so familiar.  As I shake that thought we come to a crossroad and Tohsaka says she'll be going out into town looking for Masters since the War has officially started.  I realize that Tohsaka is my enemy now but I don't want to think about that.  As I'm about to split up with Tohsaka a voice calls out suddenly and I spin around.
There's a giant there.  I didn't even notice the small girl standing in front of him, it's so out of place.  The girl says her name is Illyasviel von Einzbern or something which is a name Tohsaka recognizes as she's surprised as well.  Then Illyasviel tells her giant Berseker to kill all of us.  Saber reacts suddenly and confronts Berserker while Archer fires arrows from so far away I can't even see him.  I watch as Saber and Berserker exchange blows, the arrows are literally doing nothing.  Saber is thrown back constantly by Berserker until finally she all the way up the hill in the cemetery.  Not wanting to feel useless I ignore Tohsaka's advice to run away and run up the hill towards Saber.  There I see Berserker destroying tombstones all over the place as Saber runs around the beast.

Tohsaka spots me and yells at my to stay down.  The two of us hide behind a tree nearby and look onward as bystanders.  Tohsaka says Archer is going to finish Berserker with an attack but that's when I get a sudden chill down my spine.  If the arrows he were firing before couldn't even hurt Berserker what can he do now?!  Based on my intuition and suicidal tendencies I run out from cover and dash towards Saber, telling her to watch out.  Saber stops and looks at me dumbfounded, calling me crazy.  I keep going and eventually crash into Saber just as Berserker turns around as he senses Archer's new arrow flying towards him.

At that moment I go deaf.

A mindboggling explosion goes off behind me as I lay on top of Saber now, shielding her with my casual clothes as she's wearing armor.  I feel a sharp object pierce my back and grunt in pain.  After the noise dies down I turn and look at the red scene.

Berserker is just standing there, possibly unfazed?  Somehow, I can feel Archer's presence even if I can't see him.  I sense that he's smiling like he knew this would have hurt Saber and it pisses me off.  Illyasviel calls Berserker back and says she'll be leaving now.  She has a new found interest in Archer and will be seeing him later.
Saber gets up and I try to get up painfully.  Saber points out the object in my back and says she'll fix it immediately, which means pulling it out suddenly.  I grunt in pain and Saber notices that my wound is already healing and believes that this was my plan all along, whatever.  I don't know what she's talking about.  Tohsaka comes to us and to see if we're okay and I try to walk towards her, only to white out and fall over instantly.


And now a new OP plays that has the same song but a lot of new scenes added in.  I liked the OP, hehehe.  I wonder where this will go from here?!

I finished AnoHana.  It was fine I needed a short series to watch as a break.  I'll need a new anime series to watch now.  Probably Steins;Gate or something, hehe.

EDIT:
Hah, that first episode was great.  I wasn't expecting the main character to be so eccentric and paranoid like that.  Dr. Pepper supports the Rebellion Steins;Gate!  In any case, I'll be sure to play the visual novel when the translation is finished since I don't think there's a complete translation yet.

And there goes episodes two and three.  I'm finding all the dialogue to be witty and charming and I will definitely be continuing tomorrow since it's late now.

Damn SERN (CERN) took over the world!

Just finished watching Mononoke-Hime (aka Princess Mononoke), and was reminded of how much I loved the story. When simplified, it's about a man cursed by fate to die, who accepts this, and uses what time and ability he has left to help put and end to the suffering of others... a very rarely explored heroic archetype. It also focused more on the strength of character required to hold oneself back from violence, rather than just the physical strength displayed in succumbing to it. Also, the "villains" were morally grey, and had plenty of redeeming qualities... and despite all their misguided ambition, none had to be "defeated" in order for the protagonists to succeed. In fact, each "villain" instead had to confront themselves and their own ambition, and grew from the experience. This seems a lot more human to me.

I remember how much I used to find the character San cute too... I think it was all the badassery and conviction she displayed, coupled with her hardened brand of compassion. Also, her gender wasn't a core part of her character, but was instead just one small factor; this doesn't happen often in film, much less with a male lead's love interest. Oh, and the whole befriending an army of giant talking animal-gods to fight against firearm-wielding whores and lepers still remains pretty cool.
