It is a common complaint from people who are just getting into anime or people who have been into anime before the current pedophiliac run of anime (yes that word is accurate... unfortunately).

It's possible that Satoko-chan killed her mother and step-father by pushing them off the cliff.  The fact that Satoko has the Hinamizawa Syndrome and has shown thoughts of hurting her parents this is a very real and very sad possibility.  I also learned finally that Satoko was actually there at the scene of the accident which only pushes to the truth further.  If only Satoshi-kun was there to stop her, too bad he was at a baseball game thanks to Dr. Freakin' Irie.

So, watching the second season of Those Who Hunt Elves, and I'm finding it to be quite a bit less satisfying than the first season, filled with dumb premises, deus ex machina, completely forgetting the rather important plot point that ended off the first season, and generally just being disappointing, unfunny, and bland. Episode 4 of season 2? That was a few hours ago, and I still have a headache about it. Some of the eps have their high points, but it's not shaping up well.

Sherlock Hound though? A romp of merriment and adventure guaranteed in every episode, doled out in correct serving sizes and displayed attractively for your watching enjoyment. I had to take a break and watch two eps of SH after watching ep 4 of TWHE S2 before continuing.

Weekends are usually where I binge on anime, my weekdays are mostly for videogaming nowadays.

I think the Mountain Hounds killed Rika-chan's parents.  I really can't believe that's what actually happened to them but everything is starting to point to that.  Now I just have to wait 10 minutes until the actual reveal just like with Satoko's tragedy.  :[

Wow.  Rika's Father is actually a really cool guy.  I never had a chance to see him in person until now and I feel bad that he dies so early on so his efforts are shown as a waste. :\
