I haven't seen Dexter's Lab in a long time, but it was a pretty good show. I remember there being a funny tokusatsu parody episode.

Wasn't that done by the Samurai Jack guy? That show seems to be popular amongst anime fans.
Yeah, Genndy Tartakovsky.
He's awesome.

I'm not sure. All I can tell for sure is that McCraken did Fosters Home, Chowder, and Powerpuff Girls.
I really liked Foster's Home. His other cartoons are really weird, especially Chowder from what I've seen, and so was Foster's but it was weird in more of a playful manner than a gross out one. Plus it had Wilt the Stilt.

e: Now please, let us all discuss Demashita Powerpuff Girls Z

There were tons of parody episodes, like Mock 5 being a parody (even in animation style) of Speed Racer. That was pretty funny. I also liked when they took on Dungeons and Dragons. DeeDee did come up with a fun campaign, which I think we can apply to DF. A dungeon-forest with a piņata-dragon.

Yeah, I remember the Mock 5 one, that was good. The show also had one of the best obligatory Willy Wonka parodies I've seen. The Wonka Hawking character was pretty hilarious.

Ha, i love reading that series

Been so long I don't even have the website anymore (mostly because of switched computers)

Though I watched it back when it went NOWHERE and it was trying to be as depressing as possible... in fact needlessly depressing.

Also... they killed off Atomic Betty during her first appearance... REVENGE!

Thanks for the link.

Also Breadbocks the EXACT time I was watching was back when it stopped at the first appearance of Amazo.

So that gives you an idea of how much I seen.

Also, isn't Valkyria Chronicles a game? If it's a decent anime/manga, I'll bite

In many ways it isn't especially if you played the game.

It takes many of the most awsome and epic instances of the game and throws them away. (VERY VERY noticable if you played the game)

It also rewrites the characters and transforms their personalities so they fit into more steriotypical anime archtypes even going as far as rewriting the characters with actual depth into more two dimensional characters so they have more appeal on a mass market (most noticable? Welkin in my oppinion. Though Alica doesn't escape this). (Very noticable if you played the game)

So it isn't that Valkyria Chronicles is bad, it is that it is a seriotypical anime we seen 100 times before.

I once wrote a very good review for it (as in the review itself was good) but I can't seem to find it.

I dislike Anime.(I have watched some but i didnt like it)
But i can cope with you as long as you dont excessively state you like anime, like using anime smileys all the time and speaking engrish. (Like "Desu desu so cool ^_^).
Otherwise im fine with people who like anime. :)

I am not sure how exactly someone can dislike "Anime" as a whole.

Since it is a lot like disliking "movies" or "music"

Though given that I've met people who dislike movies and music I guess I can understand.

Not really. Anime is just one category of animation. It's more like not liking French movies, or newspaper comics.

I don't think the line between western and eastern animation is so well drawn that you can just dislike anime though.

Particularly when you have something like powerpuff girls which is closer to some anime than that anime is to other anime.

It is more that certain tropes and themes are commonly present in anime that arn't present commonly in western media.

Though that also comes largely from the fact that a lot of anime isn't episodic and has a strong sense of continuity and plot (while the majority of western animation is episodic or plotless) and also that the age groups are rather different.

As well many Animes have an overall goal while even the more story driven western cartoons tend to be plot to plot.

Though these are all generalities and hardly take into account the exceptions on both sides.

Though from what I've seen your not going to get high quality story driven non-movie long lasting western cartoons that actually have an ending for a while. The current batteries of shows I've seen are all rather bad. Sure well animated with somewhat cool stuff but with a lagging story to keep you interested.

While Anime is as much mass produced as Western Cartoons (if not more so) they at least have chance on their side.

There're plenty of western cartoons that have arcs on top of more epsodic stories. Just to name a few: Gargoyles, X-Men, and most recently Avatar. And there are plenty of anime that are extremely episodic. Sure there are some tropes that are more common in anime than in western animation, but just because there are a shit ton of schoolgirls in anime it doesn't mean anything more than schoolgirls are a common character in anime. They're also a fairly common character in western animation, uniforms are just rarer here.
