Is there ever an explanation in code geass for why the knightmares are so phenomenally better than conventional weapons? They seem to fire guns, and presumably they don't dodge bullets, so why would being a humanoid chassis make a weapon any better... Want justification.

Well think about it. To those humanoid machines, tanks are like small dogs with guns strapped to their backs are to us.

If that dog is able to fire the gun? Lets see how well you do against it.

Are we talking about a regular intelligence dog, or like... a human operated dog here? And exactly how small? Chihuahua small or terrier small?

Of course giant biped robots would be useless as weapons in reality, but we all know the rule of cool conquers all.

I've gotten very out of touch with new anime stuff (problem with not having an internet connection for two years), but I used to love Moonlight Mile and I just watched the first episode of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, which looks like it's going to be properly grim. Anyone have any recommendations for similar (i.e. fairly realistic / science oriented) shows?

Now it gets worse. In the scene where the rebels secure the tunnel with a big gun in the hotel, they can kill knightmare with it. Wonderful. Sounds like conventional weapons can kill knightmares. No, wait, its just attached to an old knightmare... WTF? The gun doesn't move, doesn't aim, just fires some kind of frag bullet. Why would they have attached it to a modified knightmare?

I watched it in high school, and it's still probably the second-best mech show I've ever seen.  Pretty good ending, too...


Has anyone seen Earth Girl Arjuna?  Same creator.

Meh.  Gundam isn't my cup of tea, Zone of the Enders was kind of terrible, RahXephon didn't hold my attention, and Full Metal Panic was just banal.  Eureka Seven and TTGL... similarly, couldn't hold my attention.  Both TTGL and RahXephon looked like they were doing everything right, and the plot was good, but I just couldn't force myself to keep watching.

Nadesico was pretty good, though.
