Ooh! I watched this. Good show, although it went a little mystical at times. I don't know that I'd compare it to TTGL. It's more of a classic space opera than that. And without the fist-pumping "Woooooh!" attitude behind its beyond-the-impossible stuff. I think it was probably darker in tone, overall, but without the Gainax ending.

Also, it didn't have blatant fanservice. I thought this was amazing and made the show at least 500% better (even though the jumpsuits everybody wore looked like they gave really, really uncomfortable wedgies).

I attribute the lack of fanservice to it's age, back in the day (lol) anime actually tried more to do a good story than to flash boobs left and right.And it reminds me of TTGL probably because of a rather large number of OTT scenes with the Nodos, but that's okay i love those :D

Black Lagoon is pretty good. There isn't anything phenomenal about it, but all around its solid. worth watching.
