You might try Gilgamesh. I mean, it's far from utterly heart-wrenching/depressing, but the whole world of the anime is gray and post-apo and deals with emotions and end of humanity in general. Well... I watched it few years ago so sorry for inconsistency >.>'

Some fansub groups have it as 'Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu' rather than LotGH. Google helps quite a bit. I think Veoh might have it too, though I can't generally stand for streamed anime.

NaruTaru is horrifying, depressing mindscrew from the creator of Bokurano, his first production (significantly lower quality animation ). While Bokurano is about death, NaruTaru is about violence: everyday, sexual, militant... At least there is some heroism in death. Its the NGE/Bokurano of pokemon & mons shows.

Why does everyone seem to like cowboy bebop so much. I'm like halfway through and the only thing that is excellent about it is the soundtrack and musical style.
Maybe its just me. I have this problem with things that are all around good with nothing wrong, but also nothing that goes far above expectations.

After seeing someone talk about it somewhere else I am watching Hitman Reborn

Honestly it is probably the most formulaic anime... ever... when it comes to the endless bounts of filler.

It almost makes Inuyasha seem unpredictable. Ok I guess I am wrong... Inuyasha is still worse in that respect

But DANG I never seen any anime make the ability to throw Dynamite seem more useless.

There's nothing more formulaic then Inuyasha, the damn thing runs on rails, if you can't guess what will happen in the episode that comes after the one you're watching, you're a moron.

Loving monster so far, tons of oh crap moments and its slowly increasing the octane of its nightmare fuel as the plot moves.
