I was thinking of watching that.
Thoughts?
Clannad, or Angel Beats!?
I'd recommend them both, really. Better to watch Angel Beats! before Clannad though, lest you'll draw too many comparisons. The story's by Key, (the people behind Kanon and Air) so if you've watched either of those then you know what to expect. Great characters, plus excellent animation.

They're not dark or violent or gory; their focus is on drama and character interaction with some humor. The humor exists to strengthen the drama -- you'll know what I mean if you've seen Higurashi. Ryukishi07 (Higurashi's author) was heavily influenced by Key's works with his goal being only slightly different. While Key's all about making you feel intense emotions (anger, sadness, etc) Higurashi was really just about creating a scary setting and environment.

Yeah, Angel Beats!.
I don't usually watch drama, but let's see how it goes. Maybe.

In regards to Mnemosyne, is this anime just built around the thought of disturbing you in every way possible?
It's worse than Higurashi in the disturbing factor by a observable margin.

Worse? Must watch.
It's funny, I don't like very depressing anime, but I'm all for it if it's super disturbing.

I finished Episode 14 of Darker than Black earlier today.  It's a good show, so I might as well say my opinion of it.

Pro
 - It's well animated, we can thank studio BONES for that.
 - The action scenes are really cool and tense I suppose.
 - A more complex show than some other show.
 - Has interesting characters or at least funny sometimes.

Con
 - Can get slow with some episodes have only talking which is okay sometimes.
 - I feel like if I watched it by myself I would enjoy it more.
 - The cool intro music feels offsetting with the lyrics added, but this is Japan.

If you skip the stupid detective episode, you'll enjoy the show more.

You mean stalker assistant?
She's funny.

Whenever I talk about good anime, DTB is always one of the first I mention.
I loved that show, and am considering buying it. Would sit nice beside Spice and Wolf and Gurren Lagann.

Do you mind intense and highly graphic murder and torture, considerable nudity, and mild rape?
It's a good show, but not for the faint of heart/watching with other people even in the house.

Did you watch the second series?

The way she fawns over the little girl and talks about Lolis is more than a little disturbing.

Admittedly no, I didn't get to it yet.
When I get around to watching DTB again I'm going to.

I would rather be disturbed than sad. Code Geass made me sad.
But who knows how disturbing this will be. Not me :P

People getting stabbed and having their heads squeezed until their eyes pop out, and the opening credits haven't even started yet :P
