Damn, I am away for some time and suddenly there are so many posts I'd like to add my opinion too...
judging by half the members avatars on here, I take it the majority like anime. I'm not a fan myself. I like Akira, and Trigun, but that's about it really. Cowboy beebop isnt bad either. Japanese anime is just too flashy and overstylish for my tastes I guess...
Oh, we could debate on this for miles. It's like saying every movie is dumb when you saw one of Hollywood's latest blockbuster.
But let's just say that you are still new to anime or at least so it seem so me.
Don't worry, I was the same.
Gundam 00.
I have never seen a Gundam show before, so i dont go into this expecting gold plated gold.
It probably will suck.
I've said it once and I'll say it again: "Mobile Suit Gundam", the original series, THE Gundam series. If you are not bothered by old-school animation from 1979 (mind you, action scenes can still surprise you), give it a try.
On the other hand, I did not watch Gundam 00. But I did watch 10 eps of Gundam Wing, 20 of Gundam SEED and out of Universal Century whole MSG, Gundam Z, Gundam ZZ, Char's Counterattack and all OVA related to U.C. up to CC, so feel free to ask for my (probably somehow subjective) opinion.
Back on the subject: I've just watched something called Detroit Metal City, and I can't decide if I should feel disturbed, resigned, or apathetic.
DMC is awesome. Might help if you know at least tinny bit about metal, but it's still mind-cracking hilarious, if you like that kind of humour.
Welcome to the NHK - now that's more of a >psychiatric< cases study rather than just psychological, but it's great nonetheless, and keeps a healthy dose of humour, somewhat in spite of the depressing lives of the protagonists.
*sigh*
I am still to see what is so grat about this mediocre anime, but that is just my opinion.
