So...since it's impossible to have natural blue hair, where did the the crazy Japanese animators come up with it?
I heard some animation systems had a hard time portraying black hair without having a dark void where their hair is, so they used a dark blue. Then it sort of caught on and became light and lighter and more accepted to have weird hair colors. Unfortunately this leads to the quote "Oh, an anime character that looks identical to another anime character except for the color of their hair? Gee."

On the topic of livestreaming and anime, I just remembered I have a collection of Fate/Stay Night. Dubbed of course. Still gotta watch through that.

Actually, I've got a ton of shows on my computer that I just haven't taken the time to watch through. At least for a good amount of time, I'm going to make my computer like a mini-TV station and set airing times so I can commit to watching the shows on a schedule. I'm sorta split on what I should air on my livestream (mini-marathoning or something, like 4 episodes at a time or something).

I have Lupin III on the list for possible livestreaming. Personally, I prefer the dubbing on that since the voices seem to make more sense to the characters, plus, the subbing is from eons ago. Not as funny as the dub's material; you'd be surprised. I have nothing else on the list that I have on mind to add yet.

EDIT:
I just remembered, I also have Lucky Star on the list. (Dubbed)
Also on the list (if I can find the DVD I burned it on), Spice and Wolf, season 1 (Subbed)
Just as well, Gurren Lagaan (Dubbed)

I think it is possible to have very, very dark blue-black hair.  Humans with blue hair isn't actually hugely implausible (it'd be like red hair only with copper instead of iron).  So uh... yeah.

Red pigmentation of human hair is not related to iron presence. It's caused by disproportionate abundance of pheomelanin versus eumelanin - both polymers of amino acids, which don't include any iron in them.

The blue coloured blood of horseshoe crabs is indeed caused by copper, as opposed to iron content causing red colouring in hemoglobin, but that's a completely different kettle of fish.
(in other words, not everything that's red must have iron in it)

Back on the subject: I've just watched something called Detroit Metal City, and I can't decide if I should feel disturbed, resigned, or apathetic.

I should go play the VNs, actually.  Although I'm not sure how many of them are in English :/[/spoiler]
I think all of the question arcs and some of the answer arcs are translated.

Chlorophyll's basically green because of the presence of magnesium instead of iron, right? My chemistry is a little rusty.

The first VN is free to download and in English.  Awesome.

I'd always interpreted it as our eyes have developed to see chlorophyll as green since it's useful to be able to identify plants on sight.
