And then the police inspector proceeds to leave the last human survivor of the incident alone in a room in a hospital after the other 'last survivor' just got shoved out of a window. In the same hospital.
It seems that the powers of love and friendship do not make you immune to demons.

And it will only get better. While later on, some pieces will fall in place, the picture that results is not necessarily pleasant.

The next arc should be "kill(ed/ing) by curse", if I am not mistaking? That one opens a whole new can of worms regarding problems in society...

Personally, I suggest to really think about the things from all angles. Because many of the scenes, many of the arguments, many of the dialogues really give you great insights into the human soul. There is a lot they put in there, and the more you think about some scenes, the more you see their weight.

Much later on (episode 18 or 20 or somewhere around that), you get my favorite example:

The nail ripping scene: The actual scene is already terrific, but when you examine the dialogue that leads to it and see the faces of the characters, you understand the significance of that scene making it much more horrific then just the physical aspect.

Can't actually read Japanese (hence why I'm playing through the second series of games - they've mostly been translated ) but I just found out ratings from A-D on CERO's scale are "advisory", and thus not enforced.  Therefore, yes, they can sell it to people of any age.  Z games are strictly 18+.  Weird system... but I guess you can't really produce much ID to prove you're 17.

Mangagamer.com has quite a few of the Higurashi titles translated, but the quality leaves rather a lot to be desired.

Witch Hunt is translating Umineko. It's a fan translation, so there are probably fewer errors.

Witch Hunt is semi-officially endorsed, in that 07th Expansion aknowlodges their existence.  They've translated the first 5 novels, out of the 6 currently released.  The quality seems to be pretty good.

MAybe that would make more sense, wasn't that right after the inspector said that they found Mion's corpse in the well with all the others, as well as finding from the autopsy on the woman who got burned (can't remember her name >_>)that she had been dead twenty four hours before the four of them went into the building with all the torture tools.

Yeah, walking corpses makes more sense.
