What anime is the 'kick reason to the curb' phrase from? I recall it coming from a famous-ish one, and now it seems it stands a chance of becoming my class' motto.

I've completed the second half of Angel Beats. I'd highly recommend it to anyone, it's probably my favorite anime now. Spoilers below.

It's quite rare that any work of art or literature can make me emotional. Angel Beats really did it for me though. The series begins by introducing the main character to a purgatory world..the people there all cannot be at peace with the lives they had lived, and so are stuck in this world, fighting the Angel helping them to move on.

And they lived some horrible lives. One of the first stories you hear is a girl who had her siblings murdered one by one by robbers, for example. The main character eventually realizes that he has to help the others become at peace, and helps them to reach the goals they were unable to meet due to their cruel fate in the real world.
The show is simply wonderful, and it's quite touching to learn about the secrets of each character, and having them all overcome their issues.
The really emotional part doesn't happen until the last episode. I shall refrain from spoiling it in case you do choose to watch it.

Angel Beats was a lot of fun yeah, not sure if I'd say it's a top favorite of mine but it's certainly better than most crap.

I'll have more to say on the matter when I actually do more Key things...heh.

The anime is Gurren Lagann. Watch it. It has the most superb pacing of anything (anime, tv show, movie... anything) that I've ever seen.

Just finished watching Jyu Oh Sei, and I have to say I recommend it.  Even though there were some moments that stretched my suspension of disbelief (the entire concept of a planet full of carnivorous flora is impossible for the biologist in me to accept), it really does a decent job playing with your emotions.  It's also extremely short (only 11 episodes).

Honestly, it's really tragic.  EVERYONE that the main character is close to dies (with the one exception of the guy who wanted to use him like a playing card), he finds out that everything he thought he knew was a lie, and yet he still goes on to save the planet he was condemned to.

I have a text file where I keep track of all the anime I've watched (currently 22 in there), and when completed, they get a smiley to denote what I felt about them at the end.  Up till now, I've only used :) (good), :( (bad), and :? (confusing).  But for this, I had to break out a :'(.

Watched the first 5 episodes of Bento last night. The entire basis of the anime is just silly (every afternoon, all-out brawls are held to contend for the half-priced lunchbox sales),  but I sense a plot coming on.

And I'm sort of in the mood to just watch some random fighting.

It gets more absurd and waaaaay funnier. And there are like 200 something chapters so yeah.

It's one of those manga that make me sad when I find it's not finished and want to read more, instead of being "Ok it's done" or "Finally it's done"

I'm on volume 13 of Gunslinger Girl now.  I would read more but I have no way to transfer files over from this online desktop to my offline laptop except by a portable media device or ripping the ethernet cord out of the desktop and plugging it into the laptop.  Aww.  It's been getting so good too.  I'm also on volume 10 in Cage of Eden, but that's not very exciting because it kind of sucks.  Mariya and Suzuki are the only reasons I stay.  Sengoku is a fucking God machine that I'm terrified of.  Please don't kill me I won't take "YOUR WOMEN".  D:<  Stupid ecchi protagonists.
