She was an average elf girl, until one day, a mysterious boy fell out of the sky claiming to be from a place called 'Fukumoto High School'~
We tried that already. Avatar sucked.
Remove the the very annoying "space elves/giant smurphies are in balance with nature and superior of the puny, evil, stupid humans who only want to destroy", and you get a pretty good premise to work with. It can be handled badly, but any premise can be handled badly.

Also while I have seen a manga where someone fixed a dislocated arm with pure muscle

I have MORE impressively seen an anime where someone healed a knife wound through pure muscle.

I am not exactly sure how... It just heals itself because of how muscular he is.

Regarding stupid anime tropes, surviving ridiculous things. My favorite arc of one piece, with Crocodile, has a huge blemish of people not dying. Guy gets shot in the back 6 times, lives. Two people get hooked through the chest, they both live. Dude gets hit with something akin to a nuclear explosion, at point blank range, he lives. The hell?

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I don't know... Getting hit HARD and not dying isn't that unusual

What about being pronounced dead, taking an impossible injury, laying there for several hours bleeding anyway, and still surviving?

... cf. Dragonball

Actually, it's probably Fist of the North Star that's responsible for that trope, though I haven't actually watched or read it.  Hurm.

No wait sorry Kaijyuu that isn't the biggest "How did you survive" moment in anime

The WORST is in Saint Seiya and the Black Canvas or whatever

One of the characters had every single bone in his body broken and every limb (including head) snapped.

he then proceeded to get up and walk miles where he then shot ALL the blood in his body... and he still lived

He did die in that encounter... but still the first injury should have killed him.

I don't see how it could be worse unless they are ordinary people as well...

I mean... I thought Bleach was bad...

But The Lost Canvas was much worse.

I don't know what you're talking about.  I mean, I only got completely slashed from shoulder to waist, fell out of a third story window and got my stomach knocked out in my last playthrough (not counting dead or bad ends).

Yeah see, no where close to as bad. It is physically possible to survive that.

Saint Seiya defied the laws of physics for their death scene with things I'd question a zombie doing.

Watching the second Gurren-lagann movie.
My reaction:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Otherwise, it's pretty awesome so far, besides pretty much being just a recap of the series with some things totally different.

He was an average guy until he met an average girl, and they fell in love. Then, he was still an average guy, but she became the symbol of annihilation. And then you were sad.

That was the same as in the actual series though.$

And  the new climax is awesome, if quite less SFW.
