Creating a new post because that's how I roll. Let's get this show on the road.
I had heard that the
No.6 manga is pretty good, but filled with homolust. The OP ended with
some guys gazing into each others eyes, separated by a big rainbow. The first episode was keen not to splash out on information about the setting, but from what I grasped of it, No.6 is the typical perfect futuristic city that I suspect is secretly horrible. A wanted criminal (or something, we'll learn later I guess) escapes from somewhere, and ends up staying the night at the MC's house. Cue wrestling on the bed followed by some hand holding. It does seem pretty interesting though, i'll be keeping watch on this one. It is by Bones, and they tend to do good shows. It's also in the noitaminA slot, which usually broadcasts shows of good quality, although some can be piles of shit (like
Fractale).
Mayo Chiki is about a cross dressing reverse trap butler, her sadist master, and the
inevitable generic MC who finds out and receives abuse. There's also some really cute side characters (especially the MC's sister) that I guess we'll hear of later. I quite liked the first episode.
Blood-C is a collaboration between Production IG and CLAMP, which is one hell of a combination. It's set in the Blood universe, with nothing to do with the movie and Blood+, although I assume it will have some relation at some stage. I thought the first episode was great, especially the fight scene at the end. I can't remember the last time i've seen something with such fluid animation without using shitty CG. It really was that good.
The art in general is fantastic, especially the
character designs which are the usual CLAMP noodle people that crossover from their other works.
Mawaru Penguindrum is an original anime, directed by Ikuhara Kunihiko of
Revolutionary Girl Utena fame. The first episode made absolutely no sense (which is fine for a 24 episode series) and had a
seriously cool style to it. It has lots of penguins. Considering the staff list, this will probably turn out to be a gem.
Usagi Drop is an adaptation by Production IG of the apparently very good manga, the second airing in the noitaminA slot. The first episode was very laid back and calm (I love laid back and calm), and also excessively cute. Daikichi is so likeable, too. It's one of my favorites so far this season.
Still waiting for non-shit subs for
iDOLM@STER and any subs for
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Ni. I know what to expect with both of them, though.
Double-J: The second episode was just as uneventful as the first, but it's 4 mins so fuck it.
Ro-Kyu-Bu: It has lolis playing basketball. What else needs to be said?
Blade: Shit. Dropped.
Kamisama no Memo-chou: Pretty good, especially for a JCStaff show.
Ikoku Meiro no Croisée: Calm and cool. One of my preferred shows this season.
Sacred Seven: Not so good. Still watching because it's not Blade-tier shitty.
Natsume Yuujinchou San: It's Natsume. Utterly brilliant.
Yuru Yuri: Heart attack fodder, anything with Yuri in the title has my watch.
Kaitou Tenshi Long Name Here: Pretty shitty, but still cute.
Kamisama Dolls: First ep gave nothing away, dunno what to expect. Has a robot that looks like QB.
Morita-san wa Mukuchi: Only 3 minutes ;_;
Nyanpire: It's 4 minutes long. First episode was about a cat drinking ketchup.
No.6: Seems pretty decent, noitanimA.
Usagi Drop: Very good, noitanimA.
Blood-C: CLAMP, it's guaranteed to be at least good.
Mayo Chiko: Was watchable
Mawaru Penguindrum: No idea what i'm watching, but it's pretty decent.
