When it is intentional they are a "Villain protagonist", when it is unintentional it is "Designated protagonist"

Mind you... a protagonist who doesn't do anything to advance the plot and is just there... could also be considered a designated protagonist.

I am constantly finding myself saying things like

"Oooh no... if only you had a small army of monsters who could do this for you"

Also I'll give Live On credit... The next main villain is freekishly true to his word. I mean he "seemed" like he was just using his lackey with a bogus deal where he would outright betray him, but when push came to shove he actually followed through with his deal no strings attached. It was odd... (also the next villain is awsome and lame at the same time...).

Since when do villains actually follow through with their deals without somehow bending things to their advantage?

Also you ever have those animes where you can think of hundreds of simple solutions, they did before, and yet the anime won't do anything and treat minor roadblocks as insurmountable obsticles?

Apparently the original "Japanese racoons" have pretty big balls, which the Japanese then blew out of proportion to make the animals into serious Symbols of Virility.

Gah! You just made me remember "Pom Poko". I NEVER want to see that movie again! It took me about 5 goes to get through it once.
Although Tanuki aren't really Racoons at all (which u obviously already know).

I flicked back a page and found someone promoting Pom Poko, I guess there's some disagreement on it's value. There were some good sections I'll admit, it's just the story is waaaaay too disjointed, and the "morphing" character animation, did not sit well with me. Mind you I've only seen the (probably Disney) dubbed version, the original Japanese Subbed version might not be so annoying.

It could have made a better OVA series or something. Maybe watch it for the magical testicles too.

Hayao Miyazaki was one the 4 executive producers, he did NOT write, animate or direct Pom Poko. I am NOT much of a fan of director/writer Isao Takahata who also did My Neighbors the Yamadas. These were my two least favorite Ghibli films, by several miles.

Takahata did Grave Of the Fireflies as well, which I have not yet seen, its supposed to be very good.

Yeah, I've been hearing about it for a while, but sadly I don't think it will air in any movie theaters in my state. They might air it in just one city, but it's doubtful. =(
I'll probably have to wait until it's on DVD or something.
