I finally found time to get back to Gundam, and I'm almost finished with the original series. I'm a bit confused on what comes next in the UC timeline. Should I move on to Zeta Gundam, or is there something that comes between the two series?

TV Tropes' page on the Gundam franchise claims that Zeta Gundam comes next, if you don't count the four OVA series that got made later.

Magical Shopping Arcade abenobashi is amusing

That's up there on my list of "WTF IS GOING ON" wacky animes, though I've only seen bits of a few episodes. What I saw is hard to shake, though.

That's the page I'm using as a reference, and is confusing me. I can't tell if those other series are supposed to be compilation movies (something which I usually loathe) or simply filling in the timeline. If the latter, I'll probably watch those before Zeta.

I believe there is a compilation of the first Gundam series in a series of three movies, but the OVA series such as 0083 and War in the Pocket are their own stories that serve to fill in the time line wherever it is they happen to fall. I don't know whether either of those are among the ones between Gundam and Zeta, but those were the first two I remembered. Just for reference.

I should actually watch some of those at some point... and the list just keeps getting longer.

Has anyone ruined a lot of enjoyment out of a show because they realised something?

As you know I've been watching the Non-anime Jem and I sort of realised how they make songs.

They take the title such as: "I'm Taking a train" and then they repeat it a thousand times... and add words between.

Almost ALL the songs do that. Admittingly some of them work... but still.

Anyone else have a Anime or peice of Animation that they weakened because they sort of noticed something? (I wonder if I'll get Inuyasha responses to this)

INUYASHA IS TERRIBLE BECAUSE THE FIRST OP HAS BOINGY NOISES

There are a few manga I liked a lot less once I realized just how many groping jokes there were.  Probably the worst of this is Hetalia, though, with the racism and lack of characterization.  I really liked it for a while, and then suddenly I read some essays in my rhetoric class and... wham.  That was it.

I can't like this stuff anymore, the hidden secrets within it have been exposed.

I guess I kindof get it when I realise that a plot point which I thought would come up again later will never come up because the series has finished.  This can occasionally retroactively sour my opinion on something (...although since I must have already watched the entire series to have this feeling, it can't really reduce my original enjoyment of it).

This probably isn't what you mean, but I can't find any entertainment from Rosario + Vampire due to the sheer volume of panty shots.

I noticed the trend of DBZ (mysterious newcomer, train, fight, catch, moar fight, moar ssj, win, rinse and repeat) when I was pretty young and couldn't find much enjoyment afterward.

Does it count if you notice that Bleach will NEVER END and it has the same trend as DBZ?

It is mostly because it has Naraku syndrome

Apperantly this was because it was meant to end rather soon... but the maker (or the people who works for) chose to milk it instead.

That's rather tragic.

*shrug*

I figure it's better to keep my eyes open to the racism in various media than it is to leave them willfully shut, so that I can continue to enjoy the escapades of gay fascists.

I have a friend who finds Hetalia not only manipulative and revisionist but also tastelessly insensative.

He actually enjoys it. Though I think it is more that it interesting that a Japanese writer would rewrite World War II to diminish their role.

"Japan" is the viewpoint character for the Japanese people, so he doesn't do anything.  He's an observer, kind of like how heroes in video games never talk.  He doesn't present a point of view or behavior that causes cognitive dissonance of any sort, a blank slate onto which they can paint their own preconceptions.

Besides, what was Himaruya going to do?  Finally get around to talking about the Rape of Nanking, unlike the rest of society?
