I've never really dabbled in Anime, except the terrible fake anime stuff they used to show on Sky One on Sundays (cough Yugioh cough) (in my defense, I was a lot younger then) and have eventually relented to a friend and decided to watch some.

The anime in question is "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamir".

Up to episode 9 now, and I'm enjoying it rather a lot.  It is a bit bizzarre though, and while the sexuality remains at a vaguely acceptable constant, the sudden violence in episode 4 (I think) came as a surprise.  Also, I've never been addressed directly by a cartoon character, and I find it rather disarming and weird.  I don't know why.  Also it's strange to see the girl who was vapourized in ep 4 (or 5?  I forget) appear smiling in the opening credits.

But nevertheless, I'm still enjoying it.  Might try to watch more anime in future.

TMHS is an odd one, they made it so watching it in different orders gives you tweaked storylines.
