You should take it as if there is no separation between season 1 and 2. There's a time skip and some things go down but other than that there is no complete story within the first season. The whole must be observed to appreciate.

Also, not even CLOSE to a Death Note ending. That should be cleared up in the second season I guess.

Episode 6:

D'aww Rei is fucking creepy but somehow adorable. And Shinji seriously needs someone to help man him up, it's almost cringe-worthy, the way he acts.

Episode 7:

I never saw anything in it as depressing, everything was always played for laughs.  Although I haven't quite gotten all the way through season 2 yet.
It's about as depressing as any other social satire. Little cynical, maybe bitter, but I never actually felt sad for any of the characters. Even Itoshiki who really just brings it all on himself.

Honestly, I just thought it was a hilarious spot-on satire with awesome and quirky art and frequent mood whiplash. The only part I ever found creepy was when Chiri is trying to be ditzy. And even then that was so hilarious that I was way too busy laughing to be disturbed.

I mean I find it creepy because it is like a depressing show trying to pretend to be light hearted.

Nothing ever goes right or is resolved and any sort of resolution reached is worse in a completely different way.

Not a big fan of anime, since most characters tend to be japanese schoolgirls running around, and its just to wierd for me. I do admit I was into Full Metal Alchemist for a little bit though.

In a sense, that statement makes me happy that I started my anime viewing with Lupin III first. Fujiko is always a nice starting point regarding female anime characters.

I'm on the last chapter of the Doubt manga that Josh was talking about.  Pretty good I guess.  Nice little thriller series you could finish in a few hours, even me.
