Hmm.  Frankly, I really prefer subdued/negative characters, so that may be part of why I liked it so much.

I would agree, but they take it to the utter extreme.
Makes the main character look alien to me.
Some reason/backstory to make this behaviour plausible, would be much appreciated.

I had not watched the OVA the first time I watched Strike Witches, but ye gods, it's like episode 4, but worse! D:
