Well Umineko is out... If it follows its predecessor in terms of abridging, and censorship, then it's going to fucking suck.

Even if they don't abridge and censor they're going to rape the character designs. I mean the they even made Battler look like Lelouch, BLOODY LELOUCH...

I just had to vent that out.

It's much better than I thought, the ED is something to watch, heh. Kinda hoped Kinzo would be there with his cape billowing in the background.

Course, I always have extremely low expectations of anything I'm interested in getting animated.

The only reason I might watch it is to figure out how the bloody hell they'll pull off anything after the first arc.

I mean it's pretty hard to do this with voice acting.

Uh, that stuff isn't really legal. If you're looking for legal stuff go to places like Funimation, or Crunchyroll. Some companies post stuff on youtube, like Kadokawa, iirc.

i KNOW veoh is legal, because when a company asks them to take down something for copyright they do, and megavideo has a pay system so they buy their rights to post anime.

the other im not sure but anilinkz isnt an illegal website.......by legal do you mean "the company has to be the ones who show it"?

also, self subbed is not illegal. companies can copyright their own subbed versions, but not the raw version. and if someone with a good translator makes their own subs, there is nothing they can do to stop them.

Veoh is slow at taking things down, and it's pretty easy to find licensed stuff on it.

Megavideo, WAY too easy to put up illegal content, even with the pay system.

I believe there have been some disputes in the past about the legality of fansubs.

yes, but until its made illegal, its still legal  :)

the main reason for those debates are probably the people who are making money off THEIR subbed versions.

Yeah, but technically you're reproducing contents illegally from the company who owns it in Japan.

Yeah, but technically you're stealing from the company who owns it in Japan.

Piracy =/ stealing.

they dont own it, otherwise the german/french/spanish/ect subs would also be removed.

Actually they do hold copyright to the images held within the anime.

Just because it's in a different language doesn't mean it's legal. I've seen a few fansub, and scanlatio groups go down due to being threatened by the original distributors.

Veoh is still ridiculously slow to remove illegal content.

well ive never seen a foriegn launguage sub be removed. and if they cant have copyright to the images because they don't own it. they help sponser it, but thats it. and funimation doesnt own all the anime.

They're never removed it because nobody reports them, and by the way they do own the contents THEY PRODUCED. I've never said anything about Funimation.

Can we stop arguing about the legality of fansubed anime... It just seems like you don't get it, and it's off topic to the discussion.

Heres the thing about fansubs, while they may be a grey area of the law I feel they tend to stick closer to what the anime was originally. Often when they get lisenced out scenes get changed, the voices sound crappy, and the translation by the lisenced company doesn't stick as close to the true scrip as it should. If I were one who developed anime I would probably prefer the episodes to be fansubbed as to raped by the lisencing companies.
