My issue isn't with long shows, but with long shows that just keep going.

That's cool. I refuse to watch the anime before I play the game this time because I bet the VNs are more enjoyable.
Yep.  Better music too (well, the anime uses mostly the same music, but has some pretty odd choices and seems to love the Suspicion track).

Yeah, but it's so much cheaper just to buy the collection in the long run.
The mangagamer releases are broken up, where the original ones were all in a collection (after they'd all been released, anyway).  I think buying the whole of Higurashi in English costs over $200.

Although there is a free fan patch of the first game (like with Umineko).

Oh, I'm just an idiot. The one listed as Higurashi is just Onikakushi-hen, of course.

Doesn't really explain why it's twice as expensive as the others.

Onikakushi-hen is the free demo.

07th Expansion has kindly given us permission to distribute the entire Higurashi Demo, so long as we provide user support, so - for those of you with Macs or Linux, or are otherwise having trouble running the demo installer - here's a zip-file version of the Higurashi Demo, "higurashi-demo-en.zip", already patched:
It's quite fun, and the bit at the end means one of the basic premises for Umineko makes a LOT more sense (it was cut from the Higurashi anime).

The Legend of the Golden Witch is also free.

Apparently the fan translation for Higurashi is still going, although it's gonna take them a fair while to get anywhere...

The fan translated version would actually be better when released, since it wouldn't have half the soundtrack removed, minigames taken out and censored scenes.

So, downloading episodes 1-432, subbed, ~96 gigs.
Let's get this shit done.

Holy Hell, I'm not used to torrents going quite this fast.
At this rate, I'll have everything in about 4 days.

It keeps fluctuating between 4 days and a week, so I guess 5 and a half.
Compensating for prioritizing, I'll start watching tomorrow.

Does it really matter once you have the first few done?

Not really, because it's downloading faster than I'll be able to watch them.
That's why I hate, hate, hate torrents that are a .rar.
If I wanted an archive, I'd pull it straight off the internet.
Torrents are nice because you get the files individually.

Yeah, 2-3 GB files take a few days so if I can get the first few it work so much better.
