I've been watching Baki, and its just so stupid and nonsensical, the entire plot simply doesn't make sense. But that makes it a fun unique series, it certainly has more character then generic isekai anime 500.

I should really get back into anime and watch the shows from the 2000s that I still haven't seen. Styles and tastes seem to have changed enough that shows after the first few years of the '10s don't really do anything for me; they just don't scratch the same itch. I think Houseki no Kuni may have been the most recent show I've seen that I can honestly say was worth my time.

I never watched Baki, but I do like these youtube videos by MARIMOMO MORIMO that pay homage to Baki:

I have read manga by Paru Itagaki, the daughter of the author of Baki. It was such a fun journey to read Beastars.
Hopefully I get around to reading more of her work. I think I'm in the middle of reading unofficial English translations of Beast Complex volume 2, probably the 1st volume of Sanda, and somewhere in the middle of Bota Bota. I sometimes stop reading a series for a year or more before working my way back through them.

A 2000s anime I really liked was Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor. I haven't heard anything about a season 3 for Kaiji, so it looks like I have read the manga to find what happens next in the story.

I finished catching up on the latest dubbed episodes of Delicious in Dungeon.

The first dozenish episodes were about 95% cooking, with very little in the way of plot or worldbuilding. Then suddenly the show went all FMA, with forbidden alchemy being used to transmute cute girls into horrific monsters and minor characters popping left and right like so many blood-balloons.

I feel like this transition will be off-putting to a lot of viewers. People who just want a peaceful, simple cooking show will be upset when when everything gets bloody, while people looking for violence will get bored and give up long before it happens. A healthy balance really should have been struck much earlier in the season.

Personally I don't find that transition off putting, even if the whole "peaceful simple cooking show" was the main attraction when I started watching it. I'm not sure how it will continue but so far I like most of the show.

The only transition I find really off putting is the fan service on every episode with Falin. It's not even that I'm prudish or something, it's just that the show will come to an abrupt halt just to show she has big tits.

Not generally an anime fan, but I've been enjoying Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Binged the first six episodes, kinda sad that I've only got four more to go. I know they don't intend to make more.

It's my first proper foray into the cyberpunk genre, so it might just be that, but still, it's enjoyable (And sad)

EDIT: Finished, great series, sad, found an amazing shitpost.

I just finished watching the first season of The Apothecary Diaries.

It's about a young Apothecary girl working in the Red Light District, who gets isekai'd to a nearby palace where she ends up using her distinct expertise to solve mysteries and impress her superiors.

I found this show to be a very comfy watch. Not especially exciting or dramatic, but interesting and heartwarming. Would recommend.

Not sure. Our dictionary got hit by a truck and we haven't seen it since.

EDIT:
But yes, unless they changed the anime a *lot* from the original light novels, the more typical description of the events leading up to the series would be a perfectly mundane "kidnapped and sold into slavery" rather than "sent to another world."

She was transported against her will to a setting vastly different from the one she came from. I say it's close enough.

Yes, she got isekai'd into a new job on the other side of town :P

I recently finished Ninja Kamui, which was an awesome little action romp. I thought the plot was comically predictable, but overall I'd say it was pretty good.

I just picked up Dungeon Meshi and... Did we watch the same show man? There was a tremendous amount of plot and worldbuilding. How much more could you possibly want? And I wouldn't say there was any harsh transition from "peaceful" to "Bloody" because the show, from literally episode 1, was very irreverent about the death and brutality of the world the characters lived in. If anything, it's slow cooking the viewer to acclimate them to gore that'll be everywhere during its climactic moments. Inversely, I'd say the the most recent episodes are the coziest the show has ever been. I'm really loving it all-together.

I also enjoyed the worldbuilding of Dungeon Meshi. There are so many monsters that make up the ecosystem of the dungeon.
Also I like how there seems to be a great action scene or fight each episode. I keep finding myself in awe of how badass the characters are in battle.
Dungeon Meshi has been really captivating me.
