I honestly never thought that I'd hear "keep reading or I'll shoot the other testicle" in an anime.

That's from the Abridgement though.

Keeps reminding me I need to check those out, it was just a sort of reflex to not trust anything but dbz abridged and not knowing that hellsing was the same folks at first, though the evangelion one was pretty damn funny.

I hear you on not trusting other Abridged Series, but I recently took a chance on Something Witty Entertainment's Sword Art Online Abridged. The writers are actually pretty funny (especially as the series goes on), the main voice actors are solid, and the character interactions are great. They play up this amazingly dysfunctional dynamic between Asuna and Kirito, which makes the plot 100% more palatable and way more entertaining. Definitely superior to the source material, IMO.

Asuna: Okay, what the hell is wrong with you? You're way too... mellow.
Kirito: Well, I had some time to kill before the raid, so I figured I'd powerlevel my Alchemy a bit by eatin' some weird plants. And now everything's just great.

That is a pretty funny quote, granted, but I got a lot of stuff on the list before I get down to checking out anything remotely related to SAO, abridged or not.

Hellsing Ultimate Abridged is arguably of equal merit when compared to the base work, probably better in some respects. I mention that to give some sense of weight when I say that SAO Abridged turns SAO into a good show. Despite transforming the characters into (different) one-tone caricatures, it makes them more complex and nuanced than they were in canon.

This is why I started watching it actually, the yuri makeout stuff you can get by just watching any of the billion .gifs floating around the internet if that's what you're after, but the way 3rei unfolds looks great.
