Australia is a good example. We have 624 KFCs, 301 Pizza Huts, 1229 Subways, 869 McDonalds, and 300 Burger Kings (though under another name), serving a total population of 22 million. And yet Taco Bell failed here, and completely closed down after trying to get a foothold in the Australian market for 35 years. So, it's not like we're not partial to American fast food, and hey tacos are plenty popular in themselves, just not that franchise's version.

Taco Bell is pretty much the lowest of the low. It's just that other countries, Taco Bell has too compete with the local street foods which is both better and cheaper than Taco Bell.

So I finished the first arc of Knights of Sidonia. I feel like my best explanation for it is "a cross between Attack on Titan and a harem anime, set in space with giant mecha."

But seriously, let's do a count of the number of people who want Nagate's dick in the first arc alone:
At least three girls, if not four.
A nonbinary person. (who I really like as a character by the way and I really hope they end up hooking up by the end but that's just me)
An obviously evil space alien.
Also probably that one rich guy who's totally got a hate-boner for him.

Also why does nobody find the alien-Hoshijiro's meat-dress disturbing? She expects us to believe she can only say a handful of syllables, but look Nagate, she's trying to look pretty for you by making a dress out of her own flesh! Isn't that adorable?
She's the creepiest thing ever and yet anyone looking at her is like "Wow that's amazing!"

I'unno about you AC, but when the freakish alien thing is crafting meat dresses, I'm going to act like it's amazing so I don't end up as material for the next one. Positive encouragement means they're less likely to eat you and wear your arse as a hat. Hopefully.

The only thing to mention when Knights of Sidonia is stated to be like a twist on Attack on Titan is that KoS is a few years older as a series. Just mentioning that so we don't get the idea that it's some sort of clone.

My money is on Macross Frontier as an influence on KoS, what with a deep-space colony ship attacked by mysterious bio-mechanical aliens and the humans experimenting on the aliens to make bio-weapons. Frontier aired the year before Sidonia started serializing so the dates work out.
