The compromise seems to be those split-cour shows. And there are a few reasons to be positive about that trend. It's easier to take a chance on a longer show when the network only has to accept ~13 episodes at a time, so they're not stuck airing a flop for the whole 26 eps. Also, a 3-6 month gap between the first two cours means they get a chance to catch up in case of schedule slippage, which should reduce the amount of quality drops in the second cour that happens with some shows.

Since there's a finite amount of airtime, for each show that's extended from 13 to 26 episodes, you have to see what occured next cour in that timeslot, and imagine that the other show never aired at all. So, longer shows would automatically mean less diversity, just because, and would probably mean declining budgets. Since, if a 1 cour show is a hit, you can add another cour, but if a 2-cour show is a flop, you're stuck airing a show that's losing money. Meaning lower revenue, and lower budgets all around.

I swear Dragon Ball Super MUUST be a self-parody of the series.

It hits all the right notes. HECK the villain got so powerful by "training for 4 months"

---

Ok this is an odd thing to say about a season of an anime...

But this season of Fairytale is starting to seem... made up.

In the sense that nothing that is occurring feels like it was planned or occurs naturally from the events that preceded it. This is excluding the huge plotholes and broken consistency, but I don't want to focus on the negative.

It is probably the only time I ever felt this. They really could throw in "and it was all a dream" and I would buy it immediately.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

At least the new super saiyan form used to defeat him is just the first one but blue instead of spikier again.

Watching the latest Kindaichi mystery. Kindaichi failing to prevent murders, as is normal. But, there is a good reason for this, and it's to do with how the series is constructed.

The murders in Kindaichi are, pretty much without exception, tales of revenge, where one person has been wronged by a number of people and picks them off one by one. The motivations of the actual murders are the interesting part and you can usually sympathize with the murderers. Usually, the victims totally had it coming. Kindaichi's role is to be a spectator to the murders section of each arc and put all the clues together at the end to let the audience know what the true story was. If Kindaichi actually took steps to prevent the murders he would derail the "justified revenge" part of each story. It's more a case that the writer chose a very constraining structure for the series rather than sloppy writing. per se.

I'd say Kindaichi is better then nothing... but frankly they are about equal. Though I am being nice.

I still with the author would marry the two better so it feels less like Kindaichi is completely callous/stupid.

Also Kindaichi ends up at Murder-mansions and Cadaver-Castles an awful lot... and Slaughter-ships. (Castles, Mansions, Stages, and Camps seem to be the four big ones)

He visits a lot of the same locations is what I am saying.

In the current arc, he was invited to a murder-mansion by the series' main antagonist because that guy thought Kindaichi could "prevent" a murder of one of the antagonist's relatives. Just about the dumbest idea the antagonist ever had.

Where I'm up to there have been two murders. And not even random "omg a murder, who would have expected that!" murders. Kindaichi was brought in to prevent murders by the shady figure who entrapped everyone in the house, and is quite obviously killing people off. So even a retard could have predicted that the murders would occur and that there will be more murders. Kindaichi has been in this situation countless times, so what did he do at this point? Give some advice? Tell people not be alone? Make any sort of preparations whatsoever? Nope, he didn't tell anyone anything. He just decided to check out the luxury baths in the mansion and had a swanky relaxing time. Because hey, you're in a luxurious mansion, you gotta take advantage of the facilities no matter how many evil villains are telling you they're going to kill everyone. Not surprisingly, while Kindaichi was chillin' in the bath, there was another murder.

Wow the ending of Comet Lucifer was terrible. Studio went way too overambitious with this when they only had 12 episodes to work with.

This is kind of amazing.

Continuing to read Tokyo Ghoul. Still really good, still filled with expendable mooks in a combat system that does not favor expendable mooks. I feel like the author has some kind of weird violence quota that won't let him just make a story about interesting characters, but he's far too talented to make a bunch of characters and then murder them like in Akame Ga Kill. So... compromise!

Also, he's got a great sense of humor in the little 4koma sketch things he does between chapters/volumes/wherever they are. Helps reaffirm that it's a series he's having fun with instead of making a grim grimtale because grim.

Depends I guess. How many arcs after Boros has the manga adapted from the webcomic so far?

It took 7 volumes roughly 2 years. Since Murata (OPM manga artist) has pledged due to the anime being so good that he'll speed it up and work extra, it might be even early. There's even OVAs coming out this Christmas.

So I'm guessing in two years time they'll have enough material.
