Ok so I've been watching Dragon Ball Super and one thing has been bugging me this entire time.

The latest villain uhhh... Dat Guy... Threatens Shenron the wish granting dragon from the Dragonballs. This personally was so weird for me. Mostly because I wasn't really under the impression that Shenron was really a 'being' so to speak, at least not one with hopes, dreams, desires, or fears bestowed with only the barest sentience required to grant the wishes. Even power wise (as in, if he was forced into a fight) he is only as strong as Kami (and late Dende) meaning that he could have been destroyed by Vegeta when he first came to earth.

So it is just plain weird... The only emotion any of the dragons have ever shown (at least in canon) is annoyance because someone kept him waiting for a very long time. He never even cared whether his wishes were used for good or evil or about his, or the planets, possible destruction before hand.

Maybe this new villain secretly used to be his lover and has embarrassing pictures of him.

You forget that Shenron was actually killed by King Piccolo, too, so he's not strong at all.

Anyway, I think it's that Shenron is a being of some sort, yeah; it's not really gone into detail much (DRAGON BALL).

Finished Himouto Umara-chan. It was pretty funny. Definitely a more palatable brother-sister story than Oreimo or any of those. Basically (although this is heavily simplifying things) everyone else sees the imouto as beautiful girl, but the onii-chan sees her as an annoying little blob. Which definitely has the ring of truth to it.

Ok I've been watching more Overlord and I have to praise it for keeping everyone's motives straight, even when their motives aren't "typical protagonist" or "typical side character".

It is such a small touch but when Lord Oins told the two elves to retreat if they are outnumbered and they looked noticeably unhappy about it until he told them that the equipment they are carrying is likely worth more then their lives. It spoke more to their motivations then anything else. They want to put their lives on the line for their master, to receive an order to protect their own lives is quite unsatisfying.

I especially like when the characters give little tidbits like Shalltear saying that she and Albedo actually have a good relationship, but that their fighting is basically a decree from their creators. Something they both are willing to act out, yet never take too seriously.

While I don't exactly like how... light they handle human life a lot of the time (though that is personal taste). So far this anime is quality and hasn't steered away from that.

Ok what is Anime's obsession with having dangerous tournaments and not putting the audience behind any protective barrier? This honestly shouldn't be as much of a trend as it currently is.

I once seen a card game where the villain basically put his lifepoints over the audience so that whenever he was attacked it would rain shards of glass over them... and in another a person invents the "Dark Core Gadget" that makes cards real and no one bats an eye over the fact that it means you could legitimately injure someone in a card game tournament EVEN AFTER it almost hurts the audience twice.

(Also sorry for so many posts so close together... I am kind of emotionally disturbed right now. It calms me down a little so thank you for all of your patience.)

Yeah, I can never figure that out myself either. I remember Fairy Tail put up some magic barriers to protect the audience, but I haven't seen any other example.
