To me it was a parody of Americanization... and honestly it hits all the right points.

I honestly wonder if it deserves that 2.8/10, as in is really that bad, or if the audience just didn't "get it".

Still not as bad as the Live Action A:TLA.

It wasn't just that it completely forgot about what Dragon Ball is (Honestly I don't think a Live-Action movie would have panned out in the first place) it was also really shit.
And I don't care if the shitiness was part of the parody, because if you want to play Aliens: Colonial Marines or Superman 64 and insinuate that it was a parody of the gamification of IPs in video gaming culture fine, but even if you are right that doesn't change the fact that they were crap and purposely making something crap then actually making it cost something is stupid, and perhaps more people could have 'got it' if it wasn't wearing the skin of Dragon Ball in the first place.

For reference, to be in the bottom 100 films ever made, you need a score of 2.5/10 or less, which means Dragonball Evolution is literally rubbing noses with the worst pieces of cinema excrement ever created. You think TV movies are bad? They're not even in this league of bad.

I don't think it was that bad on its own merits, it just didn't have terribly much to do with Dragon Ball. Most likely the score is largely due to rage on that count.

I watched the first season of Psycho-Pass.  I really liked most of it (the world is cool and I liked most of the procedural parts) but the last few episodes were rather disappointing.

My favourite bit of the ending is that Akane tells Shion to wait in the control room, and then she actually just stays there for the rest of the climax doing nothing

Apparently there's more in the manga, but won't be adapted into a second season AFAIK EDIT I LIED PSYCHO-PASS 2 IS A THING.

It was surprisingly smart for a cyberpunk anime that isn't Ghost in the Shell, but I have nitpicks with it, mostly with some misused symbolism that was trying too hard to be deep (especially all the references to Ode to Joy... yes Evangelion did it, but it actually meant something there).

I liked the idea that Akane was just such a plucky go-getter that it was literally impossible to permanently damage her psycho-pass.

I think the ending was a really nice conclusion, replaying the first episode with Akane taking Ginoza's place and Ginoza replacing Kogami on the Enforcers. Very nice way to end the series while leaving the door open for more.

The new psycho pass season was made the same guy that made the abortion known as GITS: Arise and also Hamatora. It really was absolutely horrible, probably one of the worst seasons of a show i've seen. the decline in quality was multiple times worse than death note's 2nd half. My advice, pretend it doesnt exist. the movie was made by the original director so watch that i guess.



Im halfway through LOTGH, great watch so far. I can see where certain shows got a lot of inspiration from in this.

I actually liked GITS: Arise. I mean it didn't hit quite the same vibe as the previous GITS, but it still worked IMO.

Yeah, it was really neat.  It's definitely different from the other Ghost in the Shell stuff, but I really liked it.

Has anyone seen Mardock Scramble? I stumbled over it but the only thing I know about it is that there's a big fat bastard that has 20+ extra titties covering his whole body.  I don't know if I should check it out since it's like a 3+ hour multi-movie extravaganza.

Are you talking about the alkahestry one done by scar and the Ishvalans? The goal of that one was simple, it was there to basically cut off the layer of energy that Father had placed between the earth and the alchemists. This prevented him from simply pulling the "no alchemy for any of you" type thing that he pulled when they tried to fight him the very first time that they met. Without him doing this the Elric brothers and everybody except for the Xingese would have been not much more than living paperweights.

Then there was the Hoenheim reversal, which was what returned all of the souls back to their bodies, and utilized the shadow of the moon on the earth combined with the various souls from his philosopher's stone to form the circle.

Oooh, right. I somehow forgot that. I'd expected it's effect to be more dramatic, somehow

also made by the same guy as arise/psycho pass 2. I think it was much better executed because he wasnt taking an existing IP and messing it up, but rather going with his own ideas from the start. By the time the dolphins show up it gets a bit absurd though.
